It felt like STAR WARS completely.. but in our galaxy.
This is totally a sci fi flick. what happened to the complete gi joe vs terrorists. sure it was there.. but not fully. why does it feel as if storm shadow completely replaced firefly? storm shadow was doing everything firefly should have been doing this movie is just so wrong.. sure it has the NAMES. but just because you pour syrup on bleep, dont make it pancakes. by the way, ive already figured out how destroy and cobra commander get free from prison. they couldnt remove the nanomites from the baroness.. and they didnt remove commanders mask.... he can control people from the mask.. she breaks them out... i bet anything. |

It's already been shown that he doesn't control people thru the mask, he used the PDA device on Destro at the end of the movie.
The Director's Cut (if there is one) or the deleted scenes (which there are a couple and hopefully show up in the DVD) will hopefully show the ending as being more towards the novelization. There Baroness tells Duke that even though she was under the nano-mite influence, that she still enjoyed doing the things. So the seeds of Bad-Baroness of her own will are laid. But RoC wasn't anywhere near being sci-fi. Hi-Tech, yes. But high technology does not a sci-fi movie make. Sci-Fi elements and High Technology have always been a part of G.I. Joe from the very beginning.

yeah science fiction (aka SPECULATIVE fiction) means that the concept does not exist or cannot be transposed in the real world.
i.e. spaceships are just planes, lightsabers are just swords. for the longest time SW was NOT sci fi. it had no sci fi elements. it was more spiritual. then Lucas introduced the midichlorians to debunk the naysayers who were constantly accusing SW of being fantasy and not sci-fi. star trek's science fiction idea is NO MONEY. that doesn't exist in the real world. that's what makes it sci fi. so yeah there was no sci-fi in ROC but I understand what you're saying.

it was completely sci fi. science fiction.. cobra commander was a scientist using science technology the stuff he was doing...fiction sci fi. it really lost most of the military feel.
and sure REX used the pda device.. but they never showed anything about the mask..just him putting it on.. and that he had it before hand in one scene. how do we know he wasnt working on something for it before he put it on at the end? why didnt he just wear it to begin with? im guessing it'll be written in, that there is voice control built into it. besides that. this movie was just way too out of hand.. there were cameras in places that are impossible for cameras to be. how the hell was breaker watching everything? just stupid. why was the raven voice activated. but all the other vehicles in the water werent. just tiny things that were completely wrong can destroy a movie and it makes it kind of un-enjoyable. this to me felt like one giant toy commercial. its just eyecandy for kids |

FANTASY at best. the film does take place like 10 years in the future. hehehe. but no... not sci fi. things have definitions. itz okay to use them properly. :P heheheheheheh. just giving you a hard time.

Do you really not know how many cameras you walk across on a given day?
It's a common thing in thrillers/detective and that kind of show/movie/book. ATMs, traffic lights, security cameras... The amount of times you are on camera throughout a normal day is astounding, especially if you're in a major city.

Science fiction has always been apart of gi joe, Flash, Sci-fi using lasers, the Havoc and Battleforce 2000, Synthoids, Zartan's camo powers are all science fiction elements.
