I did at the end when he was talking to Duke. Also, Destro told Duke that he wasn't going to be the one who the world would turn too once the world was in chaos. Plus the way Commander manhandled Destro at the end gave it away....
all in all, it reminded me a lot of Sidious in the prequels. Cobra Commander just manipulated and moved pieces from behind the scenes until it was time to take action....though I think Sidious would take action before being stuck in a stranded submarine... my money is on a load more ninja action in the DVD directors cut....could be wrong though... |

You can count 4 more satisfied customers! We loved the G.I. Joe movie! The most common complaint I have heard people make is the fact that it's more scifi rather than a military movie. Well, newsflash, G.I. Joe RAH has always been more scifi than military. You can't expect a Black Hawk Down type of movie based on an action figure toy line. Of course it will be over the top. But the movie is very entertaining, and fast-paced. Ripcord was not as annoying as I thought he would be, so, Marlon Wayans, cheer up, you were great.

I had purposely ignored anything about the movie after seeing some early pics of SS/SE in costume on the forum (looked like they were in PJs) and the announcement that it would be a different take on the Joe story. Then when I heard Wayans (I cant get White Chicks nightmares out of my head) was playing Ripcord, I decided to block out all memory of ever hearing about a live action film.
Im a Sunbow/83-87 figure type of dude, so anything that didnt fit into my joeverse was unacceptable to me! I put all my hopes in Resolute (which I love). But, then I broke down and saw the film. To my surprise I actually liked it! Of course I shook my head and laughed at the stupid accelerator suits (Hadn't heard about those so I was unprepared)- but Snake Eyes looked pretty cool to me given my low expectations and SS as well. And I was completely wrong about Wayans, he played the role pretty well. Now, Im still not 100% sure this was a GI Joe movie (change the names from Duke/Rip/SE/Destro/Baroness and it could be any live action movie focused towards 8-12 year olds) but I liked the way it set up the pre-story. I'm hoping that GI Joe II: the Joes Strike Back will have more characters and resemblance to the joes I love. Either way, Love it or Hate it- it still gives us more figures and vehicles and hopefully sets up a new generation of kids to get hooked on Joe. The last few years have been very good for us, at least Im not buying Corps! and integrating them into my joeverse anymore. |

I was hoping it would do better than it has. I don't know how well a sequel would go over. I'm hoping the DVD attracts more fans. It really wasn't that bad at all. Many worse movies have done way better.

I was under the impression that this was part 1 of a triolgy. Am I wrong? As I said I had tried to block out the early leaks of the movie and reviews, but I thought this movie was to just set us up for another next summer. It would be too bad not to have another with Joes actually battling CC and Destro legions.
