Ebert writes to a certain movie aficionado group. You may not agree with what he has to say but if you read his reviews, you can kind of determine for yourself if you would like or dislike the reviewed show.
I have been paying attention to his reviews for over 20 years. He is so much more reliable than the current Roeper. I remember in one of Ebert's books, he wrote about what makes a good movie and in it he wrote about how to never make a character stupider than the audience. I think there was at least one character like that in RoC. I am one of the few guys who will support Ebert. I always like Siskel's reviews better then I was left with Ebert. Now that Ebert is sick with cancer I fear his loss is sooner than later. I am just happy the guy can keep working despite his illness.

Yes, I'm sure whoever wrote 'he's old and needs to be put down' or whatever REALLY thinks someone should kill him. And most people aren't attacking Ebert for the review, but for the horrible inaccuracies. |

He obviously didn't watch the movie or he fell asleep. You really couldn't miss 2 things in Particular-Marlon was flying the plane and the 4th warhead hit Paris earlier. He's just being an asshole, because like all major, corporate owned media is becoming outdated and meaningless.

Nothing against Mr. Ebert, but it would help that he actually watched the movie, rather than just looking the plot up on some website.

I'm surprised by Ebert's review. With the exception of Deep Rising, he's given every Stephen Sommers movie an average of about three stars.

I think the Chicago Tribune is becoming more and more meaningless, and if a bunch of reviewers from websites and Blogs get to go see screenings before him it makes him even less powerful. Hasbro/Paramount snubbed him and he snubbed back--he could give a crap about "fans".

I think he was so overwhelmed by the crap movie that his mind overloaded. He basically swooned from the travesty of it all. Did any of you really expect a REAL film critic to praise this heaping pile? Honestly? Did you expect him to compare it to Citizen Kane or something. LMAO
