There is very little resemblance to any of the cartoons or what one recalls from the original toys, which is a good thing, since outside of of the United States, the G.I. Joe brand name is less known
I'm very pleased that most critics seem to be saying it's a fun movie. I'm less than pleased that literally no one has yet said that it's any good on an artistic level, and most have admitted it's not any good on an artistic level. Que hater-haters blabbing about "What did you expect, it's not Shakespeare", but that's not the point. The point is that we've had great summer super-hero movies that also had artistic merit. That were good movies. I had hoped that my favorite property ever would be one of them.
