To the OP, don't you see that change is needed.Hell look at the 3 3/4 Marvel line. It's just chock full of changed characters in their updated movie look. And we all know how well that line is selling with all that change goodness.

I don't think its been erased, I mean seriously if anything Hasbro has been slipping ARAH style stuff in the RoC line just to keep us old timers from burning Pawtucket to the ground.
Granted its clearly not the main focus of the brand these days, but its definately part of the brand, otherwise we wouldn't get reissues of stuff like the SNAKE armor and such, I mean by todays super articulated standards the SNAKE armor is pretty lame. |

The silver lining here is that the 1980s-style ARAH line has proven so durable. It died out in the nineties because it moved too far in an outlandish and neon-colored direction, and no effort to "reinvent" the line ever caught on to the same extent as the early to mid-eighties toys. The v1 iterations of nearly all major characters (the two big exceptions being Hawk and Snake-Eyes, who are now mostly remembered in their v2 forms) remain definitive, and whenever Hasbro has needed to revive interest in the line they've by and large gone back to those versions.
Sooner or later, Hasbro will run home to mama again and go back to classic-style. |

I will always collect ARAH because that is what I grew up with. I also buy other lines as well. Not so much of 25th but I do have a few figs. I actually HATE the new movie story quite a bit but I think a lot of the figures (Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes) are pretty damn awesome! That figure kicks all kinds of ass. I don't think any series is DEAD or ERASED as long as the collectors keep buying G.I. Joe stuff of any shape, size, era, or story then we all win.

Yup. ARAH is pretty much dead IMO. ARAH is the past... and maybe it belongs there, but then again probably so do I... for ROC's time has come! Time for all the little kiddies to take over the G.I. Joe buying! It is all up to the next generation! LOL. ROC is fickle though; a momentary grab for the cash by Hasbro... it will not endure like the ARAH love will IMO. 25 years from now no one will remember ROC... but old boys with silver hair and aching muscles will still love their ARAH Joes I bet.

I don't see the ARAH line going away. It may change forms but die completely never.

You've had just about every 'major' character released in the 25th/Modern era line. It's done it's job for now and something new (and in my view just as good and exciting) has come along.
Just look at Joe history: It's happened plenty of times before.

Having a sense of deja vu in tfw2005 during pre-movie before. *rolleyes*
No, the change of logo does not make your ARAH stuffs burst into flame, nor melt into a pulp of useless plastic, and I dare say RoC will get along fine with the old GI Joe stuffs. |
