POSSIBLE SPOILERS. I just finished reading the script. Didn't care for the majority of the Joe characters' portrayals. Duke is a more inexperienced than what we're used too and he and Ripcord take on the Wolverine/Rogue role from the first X-men as the uninitiated characters. Ripcord was EXACTLY what I expected: weak comic relief (although his arc with Scarlet went a different direction than I thought would happen) Snake Eyes is hard to get wrong, but the script still managed to get him to speak (although we all know this has been omitted). Breaker's role as uber hacker/anylist/surveilance/sensor expert was cheesy for some reason. Heavy Duty is a character I dislike personally as Roadblock was always cooler (yes, even his rhymes), so "Heavy D" was just a sad stand-in IMO. Hawk is passable and Cover Girl serves one purpose aside from just being a secretary. There was a surprise cameo that I didnt expect, but I'm sure most of you who have been paying attention have figured that out by now.
I was really surprised (I.E. disapointed) on how much of this truly is a "set-up movie" moreso than expected, as the ending (practically the last 2 minutes)reveals all the true tantalizing threads for the sequel! The sub-title of this movie isn't really too acurate in that I feel said title wont really start 'til the beginning of the next film(!). The main character focal point seems placed on Duke and Baroness and secondary ones on Ripcord/Scarlett and to a lesser degree Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow. Despite being used for a specific scene, I still hated the idea of the Accelerator suits, as it feels like a "cheat" for soldier-heroes IMO, and it would have been more interesting to see them face a situation based on their own physical limits. A minor gripe, but it still makes me dislike it, since SE has no need for them, yet others do, in mentioned scenerio. All in all, there are things that echo the cartoon (Destro's weapon is very in-tune with a sunbow doomsday weapon, the secret enemy base, Duke getting captured a la the first two mini series, and the globe trotting urgency to stop the doomsday device from being used) and I liked those elements very much. The Doctor/CC issue isnt a bad idea for the character except I hate the ties he has to 2 other characters (it feels Lucas-prequel-convienient). Destro seems well realized and Storm Shadow is pretty decent if a bit more prominent than I expected both in presence and dialogue. It will be weird to hear Baroness speaking sans an accent (my guess, at least). Zartan is like an afterthought. This will definately be a like (not love)/hate movie for me. Also- I apologize for all spelling errors. I'm pretty tired after finishing the script...just wanted to get my thoughts out while they were still fresh. I'm going to stay blissfully optimistic about Rise of Cobra, if it's a fun action movie at least it's that. G.I. Joe was never about an oscar winning story, just "G.I. Joe against Cobra the enemy, fighting to save the daaay!". If it does that, I'm happy.

Hi, just asking will there be and disguises for Baroness or Scarlett in the movie from viewing the script? Will Scarlett be in disguise as Baroness? Just asking from watching the new trailer, scene where Duke is holding the Baroness (or Scarlett).

Now, for ROC, I just don't understand why they didn't go directly to the material that made G.I. Joe popular to begin with? Makes no sense with the route they've taken. If it's all about coming out with a new toyline, I don't see the problem with recreating the 80s characters, but with the actors' body and faces instead. |

Gmm, I can't read this variation of script, but i've read one. So, when i was reading that i was thinking:What the f*ck?
No-no! I'd knew about the end before i've started read the script. But... I think something is wrong. OOC aka Out Of Charaster. Yeah, I adore pairings in G.I.Joe, yeah, i'm absolutely crazy about Destro/The Baroness, but i don't like what writers'd done. And what they'd done with the Baroness. And Destro too. IMHO.

For me, too many details seem to scream "F\/ck you" to the fans. The Baroness is American. Come on. I can think of a milion ways an actual European could have had that connection to Duke without changing the overall structure of the script.

I have looked over the cobra character list of the movie and I wished the movie had used more cobra characters from the early cartoons like :
Major Bludd Buzzer Ripper Torch Scrap Iron Firefly (I bought the toy today at ToysRUs). etc. This would allow the Joes to fight more colorful characters instead of dumb Cobra foot soldiers. I am curious how the movie would have updated the costumes of Buzzer, Ripper and Torch since the movie probably won't be having hippies. |

How funny that Destro named the title of the Joe movie.
