They should go in the distinct direction of appealing to the Chinese markets - even it it means abandoning the American aspect from this (its possible) . Because if they do it just right and respect the eastern mysticism and philosophical aspect - that actually was rampant in the ARAH comics - then I think they can get a worldwide audience loving this and it will make tons of money for all parties and sequels will follow.
See the thing is - its really been the superhero/superpower based comicbook movies that have been doing well and setting box office records. That's unrealistic for any GI Joe movie. Its never going to happen. Correct me if I am wrong but we have yet to see a conventional military comic book based movie do well here (or anywhere). Are there examples??? Thinking about it some more, I recommend they should just make an original gung-fu movie with western flavor added (think Kill Bill) and it would capture a significant audience worldwide and basically we would all be getting new GI Joe toys again! |

China is a strange movie market, and trying to pander to its audiences (just cast Asians! Have kung fu!) usually backfires. THEIR movies have kung fu and Asians. Why would they want to see us do it half-assed? It's difficult for foreign movies to even open there(there's a cap to how many they allow in per year) and they have a limited release window. The government determines how long and when a movie plays there. It's extremely political. Chinese companies get preference which is why a lot of distributors are partnering with Chinese companies to get release preference. As to what they prefer, the Western movies that have done well there range from Disney's COCO to VENOM to AQUAMAN, all for different reasons. |

Great news about a new Cobra character. Means one more new character before the line dies again.
Sure, Kenta sounds a little REX LEWIS level of Hollywood mucking up a readily available, adaptable story...but...there's no but. The butt is that fans are gonna be hurt because Hollywood will never make a Hama canon movie. |

I made Firefly an Arashikage family member in my joeverse. He's the son of the disgraced and deceased brother of the Hard Master, Soft Master and Tommy's dad.
In terms of story of the new movie, there are always going to be complaints from older fans. Hasbro need to find new fans for the franchise, so shouldn't be limited to the Marvel comic, 80s cartoons, Resolute, Renegades, previous movies, international versions (eg Battle Action Force, Marvel UK) continuities. |

I don’t get it,
Arashikage clan already have so many characters and subgroups from the series they can use as rivalries: Sei Tin, Slice & Dice, Shadow Strike, Dark Master, etc. why create new ones? |

No "They didn't get Slice and Dice "right" at all." type of criticisms. After reading the article, They are all going to be new characters in a sense. This proposed movie origin for Snake Eyes has none of the origin story elements from the Hama run.
