If any of you are interested, email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to send you a copy to read - but if I do, I will expect reviews. I like the idea having a lot of characters in the movie (particularly the Joes and vehicles), but would like to keep the focus on the main players, eliminating unnecessary comic relief/subplots. |

I would compare it to X-Men. There were tons of characters over the years, but a few that needed to be in the story. Snake Eyes is Wolverine. Hawk and Duke are Professor X and Storm. The rest can fill in as needed to drive the story, but you can't quite make all the plotlines as in a book (comic or otherwise). Then add a director who worries more about visuals rather than story and it all goes out the window....

It seemed that X-Men started off well (if not a little slow), but lost a lot of love from the fans by the third movie (although I kinda liked X3 personally). Do you think it had diverged from that formula by that point? Was X-men ever a true blockbuster like Spidey and Xformers? |
