Jem was a mess and the Battleship wasn't even a movie? The only thing that saved the second Joe movie was the Rock. Maybe someone should tell them that in order to make and sell toys they should make good cartoon shows and movies so people would want to buy their toys?

Hasbro is a toy company. They license their properties to film studios. Hasbro doesn't make the movies.

But Hasbro DOES have a film finance arm (Allspark Pictures) which they used to finance Jem and the Holograms, and I suspect will have a larger role in future iterations of GI Joe. Quote:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasbro_Studios "Hasbro Films, or Hasbro Film Group, is a film development unit within Hasbro Studios, a division of Hasbro tasked with developing movies for Hasbro properties" The Hub didn't fail, it just wasn't as successful as the powers that be wanted, certainly not for how much Discovery charged them for their share. If it hadn't been at least modestly successful, Hasbro wouldn't keep My Little Pony (currently a larger presence than even Transformers) on it. Quote:
Seriously, the biggest game changer to the company of the past 20 years has been the launch and success of the first live action Transformers film, a film most continue to call "bad" (with some vocal segments within the fandom claiming the film would, literally, destroy the franchise). A film series which has seemingly gotten WORSE since that first film, yet is still massively successful. What's Hasbro's movie/TV problem? They can't predict how people will react to a product (especially ones that cost tens of millions of dollars). On paper, Battleship and GI Joe should have been HUGE hits (and Battleship at least did well internationally), but didn't capture the lightning Transformers did. As much as it sucks that GI Joe won't appear to have a new cartoon for a while, it's important to remember that a Joe 3 will have a massive promotional and cross marketing campaign we've seen in such films before, which won't cost Hasbro anything to ride.

Ehh... I would say if they could stick to the comic script, even loosely, and also have some better directing, they would have done much much better. I mean come on, why change the back stories? No real reason, even more so when you should know that the main watcher will be adults that had the old toys. Mattel lately has been catering to the collector and car enthusiast with many of the cars they release. No 8 year old kid wants a 72 Celica, but we motor heads hunt the damn things down. Thats the mind set they need. But thats just my look at things..

Hasbro's biggest problem is finding the balance between kid-friendly enough to sell toys and mature enough to get teenagers and grown-ups to show up for the movie(s).
Marvel's about hit that perfectly, but it's NOT an easy thing to get just right. Otherwise every movie would be doing it and there'd never be any underperformers or "bombs." It doesn't help that most "blockbuster" movies are essentially marketed to teens, who in most cases are already well-past toy-buying age. |

G.I.Joe movies would be more successful if they had Superheroes ,Jedi and Transformers in them.
