For anyone keeping track, this march it will be 2 years since GI joe Retaliation was released. At this point, i cant put faith in a project that has this type of difficulty finding any type of traction.

I liked that movie too. That's quite an accomplishment for anything that stars Shia LeBoufe.
And almost three years since it's originally planned release date.

Trust? What's to trust? That comment makes no sense.
As for Caruso's qualifications: Eagle Eye, Disturbia, I Am Number Four are all well directed and exciting movies. They may not be blockbusters but they were all well made. He's definitely got the ability to do a good Joe movie if the script is good. He also directed the Angelina Jolie/Ethan Hawke thriller Taking Lives, which was excellent. So yeah, this would be a good choice.

I suggest big stakes, like the creation of Cobra Island, and also favorite characters: (Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, Baroness, Destro, Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow) with the major roles. I know it's hard for the studio to understand when there is no clear, unmasked, white-dude hero (who can talk), like Shia LeBouf. Probably the Transformers model, where the main action takes place with the weirdos, and Duhamel has a team of commandos that they occasionally cut to for more shoot-em-up, is the best story plan. Also, they will not want to make the "terrorists" too realistic, but they could make them more like the original blueshirts with balaclavas. I think the fans would appreciate that. |

He's talk with Paramount but doesn't mean he's confirmed yet.

Yep, he's just another candidate at this point. Until Paramount puts out a formal announcement it's just a rumor.

Jon Chu wasn't announced as director of Joe 2 until February 2011, and most casting wasn't announced until June of that year, with filming occurring late that summer into the fall for a summer 2012 release. Rise of Cobra had an ever MORE abbreviated production cycle. If we don't hear of progress by Joecon, THEN we can start to question whether the film will be out next year.

However, I do wonder if they're doing more harm than good to the property itself. They apparently haven't succeeded in selling the brand to kids--which is the whole point, right?--and the poor to middling quality of the flicks could very well be turning the G.I. Joe name into something synonymous with "crap movie." Seems like, right now, most of the general public doesn't think about G.I. Joe much (if at all) and when they do, it mostly conjures up images of a cheesy eighties cartoon, but I've also noticed that's just Gen-Xers like us. And we're on the way out as an important demographic. Gen-Yers, the ones that really matter sales-wise, seem to be seeing it more as a "shit brand." A really bad effort will more than likely cement that notion in the minds of the public. That's not good because the Y'ers will be buying a lot of toys for their kids now and for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, a fantastic production would probably turn perception around.
