I want to know peoples opinions to why this movie will suck. I personally don't feel this way. I think I'm going to like the movie. Not just because it's GI Joe but because I'm a dude and I like watching movies where shit blows up. I not going to say it's going to be the best movie ever made either, I'll criticize it on August 8th. But anyway I want to know why you guy's think it'll suck.

I just have this feeling that it's going to be like the Captain America movie from the early 90's. Some stuff does not translate well to the big screen, and I am afraid Joe will be one of those things.

ugh... i dont have very high hopes... that footage of them in the suit(looks like halo) flipping around bullets and missles.... JEEZE... that just looks awful to me... till that i was thinking of seeing it opening weekend... but i might just wait till its dvd release ....not my cup of tea....

We havent seen a whole lot but what I have seen I have mixed feelings on. Im really not down with the delta 6 suits and the part where heavy duty is walking behind duke and ripcord and they were wearing matching lil outfits that reminded me of X men. I know I know, military wears a uniform, thats great if you want to stick to that philosophy than maybe GI joe isnt for you.
Small things here and there bother me but Im also excited to see it. I really was hoping for more of a resolute look, updated uniforms but you could still tell who they were.

A few things that stick out in my mind and lower my expectaitons of the film - Stephen Sommers and accelerator suits.

I won't say it is going to suck, but I do expect to leave the theatre thinking it could have been a lot better.

Yeah, when Stephen Sommers name was attached is when I began to worry. I think it will still be a fun action flick, but not very G.I. Joe.

Something I keep thinking about is the time before the first Transformers movie came out. While it was being made the fans would cry and complain about EVERYTHING. Character designs, actors, voice actors, Michael Bay, .....just everything. TF fans were determined they were going to hate it.
Now, if you read the message boards at TF sites everyone is whooping and cheering and doing back flips. It's like a big party on those sites. They still bitch about Bay and character designs and the toys but for the most part everyone is stoked for the new movie. Overall there is alot more optimism about the TF movie franchise now.

I wonder if the same thing will happen with G.I. Joe. I know eventually I'll except it as a new G.I. Joe universe. It's like introducing a new food to an infant, at first they gag and shiver because they don't recognize it, but eventually they begin to enjoy the taste.

I don't know it will suck but it seems to be they changed too much for it to truly feel like a G.I. Joe movie.

1. Black Ripcord.

2. Ripcord in the movie instead of any some 60 more deserving characters (Stalker, Flint, Lady Jaye, Spirit, etc).

3. Heavy Duty instead of Roadblock.

4. British Heavy Duty (this may not bother me too much seeing as how HD isn't that big of a name to me).

5. Cobra Commander could be "Skeletor" or "Mum-Ra" or "Shredder" and it would of been just as accurate. That is to say it looks nothing like him. (You get to see at least half his face the entire film!)

6. Cobra breaking away from Destro rather than the other way around. (MARS Troopers look more like Cobra Troopers than the Cobra troops.)

7. Using Sigma Six as the basis rather than something more traditional (accelerator suits).

8. Blonde American Baroness who marries a Frenchman. WTF?

9. Unnecessary Duke/Baroness/Cobra Commander connection that they pulled out of their ass for this movie.
