Well, today makes the 5th anniversary of the release of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. People have had a lot of time to hate on the movie over the past 5 years, so instead I'm going to post the things I actually like about the ROC:
1. Cobra/MARS is introduced as a powerful, credible force not to be messed with 2. The Joe team is introduced as being even more badass 3. Baroness's outfit is pretty authentic 4. Scarlett uses a crossbow 5. Hawk is the Joe's leader, not Duke 6. The Dr. Mindbender reference 7. The Snake-Eyes/Storm Shadow flashback scene and history 8. The Night Raven (complete with Strato-Viper helmet) 9. They fully embrace Destro's family history 10. Breaker chewing bubble gum 11. The Joes are based in an underground HQ called the Pit 12. Zartan actually using his skills as a master of disguise 13. Bazooka's jersey and Snow Job's ski poles in the Pit rec room 14. Hawk's V2-style uniform at the end 15. Snake Eyes is appropriately badass (Storm Shadow, too) 16. The fight between Scarlett and the Baroness 17. It combines military with sci-fi/fantastical elements, just like the old cartoon 18. Overall pacing and fun four-act structure 19. There's something of a romance between Destro and the Baroness 20. Destro makes a caber-tossing reference 21. The final battle is at a ridiculous, over-the-top, hidden enemy base 22. The Joes actually use "Yo Joe!" as their battle cry Wow, that's a lot more positive things than I would have guessed! |

You can't argue with the Baroness. She was hot.

The solution is to find a hidden ring-sized slot in the wall and sacrifice a magic ring to open the door. If you lack a ring, one is provided for you in another room, in a treasure chest filled with poisonous vipers. |

I don't remember them saying "Yo-Joe!" I waited anxiously thru out the whole movie. I googled to see an image of Bazooka's jersey in the Pit rec room but nothing came out. Not doubting it's there cuz everything else you mentioned was accurate.

Breaker chewing gum was the highlight for me.

I loathe the executive producer. He should have followed the concepts of the first film, and not walked away.

The Baroness was rather hot in live-action.
And the toyline was pretty awesome. Even if you didn't like the movie we got plenty of cool toys to fill out the ME line, and even if you didn't like the actual toys and figures, it gave us TONS of great custom fodder. |

Thanks for bringing some positivity to the Tank! I really enjoyed ROC and didn't notice everything in your list, so I'll have to watch it again!
