I was thinking over various actors to replace Channing Tatum if Paramount decided to bring the character of duke back for Joe 3.
so here is my list and reasons for each choice Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) Although somewhat older McPartlin is in good shape and looks a little like Tatum. Plus I feel he could hold his own against the bigger named cast. Eric Johnson (Rookie Blue, Flash Gordon, Smallville) A good actor who has done several comic-book/sci-fi shows as well as action. He could hold his own with the stars and could probably carry a film by himself (i.e. be the star) if need be (certain actors are unavailbe etc). Also same age rage as Tatum. Chris Pine (Star Trek franchise and other films) He's already in the Paramount family, he could definitely be the lead/star. He's the same age range as Tatum. Could also play Beachhead. Stephen Amell (Arrow) He is a great actor. He can hold his own in fight/stunt work. He has the Duke personality. But he does have a tv series and might be difficult to get. Travis Milne (Rookie Blue) A dark horse outside the box choice. He doesn't look like tatum or like Duke conventionally but he's a good actor. the big thing is he'd need lots of support from his cast-mates. Not sure he could hold his own/carry a film on his own Liam Hemsworth: A rising star. Has done several movies. Could carry a film on his own. Could be believable in the action stuff. Armie Hammer: (Lone Ranger and other films) Good physical actor. Has an action hero presence in his work. Could carry a film on his own or with support. |

Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow: Smallville)
Looks more like Duke than Tatum did.

LOL I don't see the obsession of having Duke back in the Movie. He's DEAD get over it, move on. There's over 300 members of the G.I. Joe team and I rather see any of them over Duke. For Christ sake, just because he got killed in the Movie doesn't mean Hasbro's gonna stop making a new Duke figure every six weeks.

I'm just quoting this to point out the fact that that must have taken a hell of a long time to put together. Thorough work there. Dammit, Davy Jones would have been awesome as Duke too! |

hey Jinx,
the reason I among others feel that Duke is needed/should return is because their is valid evidence that in any media other than comics if Duke is not involved the project struggles. look at all the different Joe series: Season 1: Sunbow(includes mini-series) Duke is front and center good show Season 2: Sunbow Duke's role is reduced still good Series 2: Dic; Season 1: No duke show stinks Series 2: Dic Season2: Duke returns, slightly better Spy Troops/Valor vs Venon: Both pretty good attempts to re-boot: Duke involved Sigma Six: Duke is leader, pretty decent but not great re-invent Resolute: Duke is major character, great movie Renegades: Duke involved fair show ROC: Duke involved; ok movie Retaliation: Duke involved but needed a little more of him I feel the character is a major part of Joe lore, he needs to be back for movies, even if its a small role or cameo to establish his existence for future films. Joe without Duke doesn't fly. |
