I said it in another thread...there is a way without being stupid, but to bring him back and demote Roadblock or have him play 2nd to Roadblock is crazy. If its not Tatum let it go.
And bringing in a new Duke to carry on the name creates unnessary crap: Roadblock having issue with someone else carrying his best friends name (and how is he suddenly the new best friend with no mention of Ripcord ?!)... their are plenty of ways to bring Duke back. And whoever plays him would play the same character as Tatum it would just be a different actor. plus no body said Roadblock would necessarily work together in every film. Also Roadblock wasn't that great a leader. so if he was demoted it would be ok. he'd still be the "Hero" of the story |

The Marvel comics did very well without Duke having much of a presence. I'd prefer that they introduce Stalker to replace the role Duke had (and preferably not mess about with ranks any more)

Yeah, but he also can't really act given he wore a hood and sunglasses the majority of his screen time, and he has a nervous tick... I've always felt that Garrett Hedlund could fill in the shoes, the kid from Tron Legacy.

Did you really just quote all that to bash Rookie Blue? How do you complain about the costumes on a Canadian cop show? It has the prettiest female cops on TV.

To be brutally honest, as a Duke fan, I don't see ANY reason to bring him back UNLESS Paramount just reboots the whole franchise. And bringing him back (new actor or not), I feel does the very thing fans have gripped about Joe for years:
the only reason he really has to come back is to sell more toys. From a story standpoint, his death served to galvanized Roadblock, and is a rallying point, of sorts, for that core team of Joes (LJ, Flint, RB). Undoing that I feel, would undermine that impact upon the characters. And is highly likely to be contrived and clearly not with any real meaning outside of bringing back the character to attach a current hot star to sell a few more toys. To me, this thread embodies a big issue with Joe fans and the brand's portrayal: they want the brand to be taken seriously, but heaven forbid you KILL (like what would assuredly happen in real life) someone's favorite.
