Ok so I've been waiting for years for a live action GI JOE movie I mean with all that source material it would seem like a piece of cake. But with these movies I find it hard to completely fall in love because the characters are so poorly handled.
My question is why? I mean from the start (ROC) when the news started to come out about the characters and who would play them we have been somewhat let down. Besides SS and SE. They have finally got around to getting Cobra Commander his usual look in his battle mask. But why not a hood look now and then? Why is that so difficult? I heard the rumor was that it would come off too KKK? If thats true then is it like politics or something that is getting in the away from getting accurate characters? Honestly the only characters that felt like GI JOE were SS,SE,RB and Firefly although I thought he could have wore his mask more. But like to me ROC wasn't GI JOE. They don't even use the classic GI JOE logo which is also something that bothers me. It's like some cheesy Seattle Seahawks shield logo. Speaking of the JOES why can't I tell them apart? What seriously baffles me is that the movie is called GI JOE and yet they probably got the least attention in these movies as far as developing characters and I am more of a Cobra fan. I mean the thing that made GI JOE great as all the different characters and the fact that they all looked different but were still a team. I guess my question is why are the JOES so bland in these movies? Why is this so hard? I'm confused because Jon Chu had mentioned that there would be a ton more JOES in this movie that we knew and loved and I feel like they gave us the same bland product. I liked Roadblock because it seemed like Roadblock. But to me it's like they didn't learn from the first movie when fans complained that all the JOES were in black suits they just put army camo on them... I guess my question is why are they getting so many things wrong? Zartan never really Zartan. There were no Vipers. The Cobra troopers were kinda corny looking. I guess I like to see the traditional uniforms and thats why to me these GI JOE movies leave me feeling kinda meh... after leaving the theaters. I would just like to know why they can't completely come through for us? Will it take a reboot in maybe like 5 years to finally get a great GI JOE movie with the characters that are accurate? I've seen better fan made uniforms then some of the stuff in these movies. In order for me to believe this is GI JOE I need to see them looking more like their source characters. Until then it will be almost a GI JOE movie to me. |

One thing to keep in mind, this was not meant to be the ARAH Joes on the big screen, this was a new mythos and a new look.

The product needs to appeal to the populace, not niche' groups, and it gets really old hearing everyone whining about the inconsistencies of characters on the big screen. Oh darn...Wolvie is too tall, Rhaz Al Ghul wasn't middle eastern... WAHHH! People forget that no matter how different their heroes are on the screen, still builds the overall product and keeps the companies interested in the production and release of said product.

I agree it's better than ROC(what isn't?) but I don't see how the stuff in the 80's wouldn't work? Like what from the 80's wouldn't work? I just feel like the answer to everything now is Ninjas. Ninjas were from like the 1700th century yet something from the 80's can't work now? I'm just confused at what Hasbro and Paramount are doing here. I feel bad for ARAH fans like myself WHO BOUGHT MANY JOES! haha |

I was thinking about bringing in more Joes for any future sequels and it occurred to me just how ridiculous a fan favorite like Shipwreck, or Spirit, or Quick Kick would look in real life. As much as I love them, it wouldn't work. I would like to see something at least close to their famous ARAH outfits, but I just don't know how that would come off in the really real world.

Question:
Why do you have to change Characters background to appeal younger generations? What is wrong with the original characters' background? For younger kids, they would not know the different between original nor new... this is the first time they expose to the characters anyways. It's just all about "macho" directors; they always think they do better than the original, but in fact, they all SUCK. |
