they tried cheap and fun for the vehicles and hoped to attract kids this time around. problem is kids dont like their toys falling apart all the time, and thats kinda what the ghosthawk and hiss tank do when children are playing with them.

as shitty as i think the movie is, i sincerely hope it makes a bajillion dollars, spawns 10 sequels, and keeps the 4" figure line going for another 50 years.

Just got home from watching it (2-D thank you, Eff 3-D) and my biggest gripe is not with the movie but Hasbro's supporting line, or more correctly the "Story Lines" that Hasbro created that have NOTHING to do with the Movie. The two that stand out the MOST are:
A) The Roadblock is a Ninja Crap that is in the packaging (and the one actual file card that they put out) B) The Battle Kata Nonsense. OK, in the end he uses a Gun that looks like the Toy they are pushing, but not once did I see it connect to a Missile Launcher or turn into Brass Knuckles or a Trench Knife! Not to mention the Vehicles. The HISS has no excuse as it's a new mold, same with the Ghost Hawk (Not to mention the 90's Battle Corps Colors) but the rest they took vehicles that they already had made some MINOR alterations (if any) and said Good Enough. Thanks for Phoning it in Hasbro. |

The only bad thing about Retaliation was RZA. Holy shit, he's the worst actor in history and ruined every scene he was in.

All I know is this, it is popular. I was at the theater waiting for my brother and 9yr old nephew to join me for the movie, while waiting I over heard at least a dozen families (dads, sons, sisters and a few moms) talking about GIJoe as they were going to the movie, a few of the little guys 5-9 yr olds had figures in the clenched paws while a couple more were asking if they could get the toys and one little guy was talking a mile a minute about them to his mom. So if the movie generates a whole new generation of fan it is FINE BY ME, let Hasbro combine our needs with the young bloods I dont care as long as we get a good amount of nod in our direction with the toys im good. considering the alternative of no movie, no line no hobby,.. I will take what LITTLE hiccups hasbro has along the way. I liked the movie, enjoyed every minute of it, I cannot say the same about ROC and to me guys that is progress. todays youth dont have a cartoon like we did so if hasbro wants to help fund and produce a 2.5 hr commercial that has action, some referances us older collectors understand, ninja and hot chicks with badass guys shooting guns then go right the hell ahead to sell toys, nuff said.

If I were a kid, I would want toys of the vehicles onscreen. Thing is, kids aren't stupid, they'll know that the toys onshelf look nothing like what was onscreen. It's like telling a kid that wants an Iron Man movie figure of Iron Man that a Hammer Drone figure is Iron Man. They aren't the same.
Point is, if this movie is supposed to be an hour + long commercial to sell the toys, I think the innaccuracy of some of the toys is fairly detrimental. |
