ALot people cannot wait to see the movie. It seems like the only negative feedback is coming from the Hardcore Fanatics.
I mean I have heard everything that has been leaked about CC, and lets just he is gonna be a real Cobra. Cobra is gonna mean something. Talk about sinister, sneaky and waiting for the perfect oppurtunity to strike and that is CC in this movie. |

I have a good idea for Hasbro regarding GI Joe.
Do whatever with the live action movie. I don't care. Ditch the 5 minute episodes online that only make a hour long cartoon. Produce 2 or 3, 3 if you want a trilogy, straight to DVD animated GI Joe films with all the original characters. Go anime-like or more modern style. Do it pencil drawn. The price to produce that should be rather cheap these days, for pencil drawn animation. Make a story & plot that stretches out in the 2 or 3 DVD's. Make the story & animation where kids are able to watch it, & strong enough for us old fans to like it. Tons of cartoons these days do it. Look at Marvel animated DVD's like "Hulk VS.", it can be done. Make each animated DVD movie around 2 hours length. & Wallah, everyone's happy, including me. -& While Hasbro is at it, they could sell plenty of toys based on those animated DVD's. Which 3 DVD's would equal lots of toys & more money for Hasbro & whoever else. & The toy happy collectors could collect them. (No offense, I don't play with toys any more, but whatever floats your boat, I don't judge)

I did see a lot more potential in the Transformers movie than what we got though. Having said that..I do see how kids would like it. Quote:

So I'm guessing from that you'd be cool with a grittier, more modern day, character driven drama, like a modern Saving Private Ryan. I'd definitely be down with that, but I just don't think that's the kind of thing Hasbro and Paramount would take a chance on to sell their tickets and toys.
It has been prooven time, and time again that children will latch on to things of an adult nature, and adults will latch on to things intended for children if done right. Just look at looney toons, Ren & Stimpy, or Pee Wee's Play house for proof of that. I loved those shows when I was a kid, and as an adult they still hold value. In this day, and age..aming for a PG-13 rating is best if you want to make "THE BIG BUCK$". So I understand why they must do what they have done. So I also have an Idea suited for a PG-13 Joe film as well. Make a GI.Joe movie that is just as much comedy as it is action. Have it set in the present time, but act as if the battles between G.I.Joe and Cobra actually took place in the 80's. The Joes are retired, most of them are in their late 40's/early 50's. Cobra has been dormant for quite sometime, but with all the goings on in the world as of late..Cobra starts back up again. They woulden't want to be out done now would they?!?! The Joes get reinstated (like they did in Image comics G.I.Joe no.1). They are all fat, and old, and try to squeez back into there old uniforms, and get back to who they used to be. It would be funny to see training sequences where they are all out of shape. It could be a mix between that old Robin Williams movie 'the Best of times' & the more recent Bill Murray movie 'the life aquatic'. I think a movie like that would have the potential to be great, and VERY funny. The internet has prooven that that "hardcore GI.Joe fans" do have the capacity to laugh at our "heros". Quote:
It looks like all the G.I.Joe movie is offering up for adults is big boobs, and bad comic relief. I could just watch porn if I want tits, and I could watch Chris Rock if I want to laugh. Marlon Wayans is about as funny as the guy at work who always quotes Dave Chappel, Saturday Night Live, and Austin Powers movies. Then it shall be done my friend |

Did we watch the same X-men movies? The same Transformers movies? They changed everything in X-men. Basic changes, The first X-men were Cyclops, Beast, Ice Man, Marvel Girl, Angel, etc. Except for Cyclops and Ice Man (who was a minor character in the first movie) none of the others were even mentioned and the story basically centered around Wolverine. Wolverine also is supposed to be just above 5 feet tall and stocky, not tall and skinny like Hugh Jackman. Then on the third movie, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Xavier were killed. And that was a little change?
Transformers, the Autobots and Decepticons crashed on the earth millions of years ago and was awaken by a volcano eruption. They were trying to find energy sources to make their energon cubes for them to survive. There was never a mention of the "all-spark" during the transformer's early days. The only thing to tie movie Optimus Prime to G1 Optimus Prime is Peter Cullen's voice. Even the make of the truck was different. And this was a little change. Look I am not trying to change anybody's mind about how they feel about the movie. But stop bashing it like it's the worst thing to come since the ebola virus. Most of the people in this forum are looking forward to it. Yes it changed, yes it evolved. Nobody is forcing you to accept it and if you want to, just watch the 1986 Gi Joe movie if that makes you happy and nostalgic. But the fact of the matter is the companies that produced this movie is out to make money first and foremost and they will try to sell it to as big an audience as they can get. Hasbro can make the Movie Lines and 25th Anniversary lines co-exist....sure they can, but to they want to? When Batman Begins came out, Mattel had 3 Batman toy lines: Batman Begins, The Batman animated series and another Batman line aimed at collectors. The third one being the best line and was even sculpted by the infamous "Four Horsemen". But because of the influx of so much Batman products, retailers chose not to carry the line aimed for collectors and what we were left with was a bunch of ugly Batman Begins repaints and stupid Batman in bright orange outfits while the European and Asian Markets got an Batsignal Classic Batman with full articulation. Although fanboys might be appreciated by a genre's creators for their loyalty, they can be double edged swords. So studios will always try to throw them something to get on their good side (e.g. Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime) but they will still try to change the story to suit the change in the times. & Here you are trying to teach me a lesson in being a fan of X-Men. Your clearly not that big a fan of X-Men if you didn't know Jean Grey has been dead. Don't try to insult me, I didn't insult anyone on this forum. I also took the extra step & do actually type "in my opinion" at times so I'm not being rude. As for TF, I don't care about the stupid origins. Never did. Point is the movie still had Autobots vs. Decepticons. & The Autobots always had human buddies helping them, & they do in the live action movies too. How is Optimus Prime changed at all really? All they did was make him look realistic. Here's a pic of G1 Prime http://img29.photobucket.com/albums/...imus_Prime.jpg & Here is a pic of Movie Prime optimus prime front on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Now if you look at both pics with a point of view that the first pic is just a cartoon, & the second pic is a realistic version of the cartoon, you'll see many simularities. Now in my opinion, I don't understand how anybody could not see that live action Prime is Optimus. I highly doubt anyone was scratching there head wondering which robot was Optimus. You knew who was Optimus as soon as you saw the truck for the first time. You even knew it was Optimus's voice as soon as the film began. BTW, I don't think you even really watched the TF movie. It had alot about G1 in it. The battle of Megatron vs Prime in the '07 film used exact quotes from their classic fight from the cartoon movie. The Transformers transformed many of times to the classic transformation sound, epsecially in the first transformation by Blackout. Energon cubes or an all-spark cube, whats the difference? Classic characters like Sam & his dad were in the film. Classic stories were used like Sam & Bumblebee being buddies. Sam even had a girlfriend that hung with him & Bumblebee, just like in G1. OH NO! I guess since the girl in the G1 cartoon had a different name & the character was a scientist & Megan Fox was just a car junky is a too big of a change, huh? Well not to me it isn't. I say Bumblebee looks close enough to his G1 self too. TF was a lovely G1 TF Movie. You can't have the same Prime voice actor, exact quotes from the cartoon film, use the old transformation sound, still have the energy or life force be represented by some time of cube, exact characters from said G1 cartoon, & not have this be a G1 movie. What else do they have to do? Call Sam Spike? Get real! I don't mean to be rude. But it's rediculous to ignore all of the G1 fanboy spots TF'07 had in the movie. Prime even used the faceplate through most of the film. & In my conclusion, since TF & X-Men, not to mention other films (The Dark Knight, Iron Man, ect.) have all given the general audience a movie without leaving the fans out, I don't see why GI Joe can't do the same thing. Overall the Joe film don't even look like a good movie to me either, even by me just judging it on only a movie & not as a Joe movie. BTW, the black armor suits are going to be the main suits they wear mostly through out the film & surely finish the film in them. Because all the posters including trailer show them wearing those suits. If all the posters for the film only show the Joes wearing the black suits, then it's clear that this film will have them wearing all black through out the film. I haven't read any news or seen any poster or anything in the trailer that looks like this GI Joe film gave the fans even 1% of this movie. What was I supposed to be happy about? Snake Eyes with a bad costume & lips? Or Storm Shadow as a effortless & simple costume as a ninja in white? Or The Baroness in a cheesy looking costume? All the original looking Joes look cheesy, & everything else is completely different. & I wasn't going to go there. But, Marlyn Wayans? I know he can play a serious role, via Req. For a Dream. But it sounds like Mr. Wayans is going to play as comic relief. & That my friends will just put the nail in the coffin. Trust me, if Marlyn Wayans is just a comic relief in this film, you can start singing "swing low sweet chariot". I know my beloved TF movie had comedy, & Joes can have comedy too. & I don't have anything against Marlyn. But there is a right way of going about it & a wrong way of going about the comedy. & It looks like Maryln Wayans is playing a lead role as a Joe, & if all he basically serves is comic relief. People will be saying after the movie, "they finally made a GI Joe movie, & they had the freakin guy from Scary Movie as a Joe, & all he did was joke around, I mean come on, thats just lame!".

Okay, I might come across as a bit of an asshole when I say this, but it really needs to be said in my opinion.
I really don't understand how anyone who visits a forum titled, "HISSTANK," a community of diehard G.I. Joe FANS, can endorse this trailer. By the looks of this trailer, this film will have next to nothing to do with the G.I. Joe we all grew up with. "Technically, we don't exist." WTF is he talking about? The military doesn't "technically exist"? Who wrote this crap? I know that, as fans, we've been waiting for a live action Joe film for years. But, don't let the novelty of this film cloud your judgement, people. I wanted this to be good, I really did. But, I have to be honest with myself and admit that it looks like horseshit. |

Firstly I think you must have watched different X-Men movies than me. The first class X-Men? Yeah I know who they were. But the movie didn't start there, it started at the point where Wolverine joined the team. & The cast they used in the movie, has been the main cast in the comics for over 20 years. Ice Man doesn't have a spot in a X-Men comic right now. & Jean Grey actually died in the comics a long time ago before X-Men 3 was even thought up. Grey's been replaced by Emma Frost since then. & I know you didn't pay that much attention to X-Men 3, because Xavier comes back to life at the end of the credits. He used his mind powers to take over the lifeless body he showed his class earlier in the film. & X3 never truely showed Cyclops dieing. They showed Jean dieing & Xavier dieing & being revived, but was mysterious with Cyclops. Fox announced a X-Men 4 called X-Men First Class (but not like the first class comic, it'll be a some what sequel). Even if Cyclops stays dead, not really a big deal, there is still plenty of other main characters in the movie. & Wolverine is a cartoon character, he doesn't look 5 foot tall in my comics, I can't tell height from a cartoon either. That kind of nit picking, I find to be really stupid. So in my opinion, the X-Movies didn't change anything really. The all black costumes didn't effect the look of any characters, because they all wear simular uniforms anyway, the color just changed to black. For example, instead of Strom flying in skin tight silver, she flies in skin tight black. Cyclops still looks the same, he's just wearing black instead of blue. Not a big enough change to call a change at all. The only one effected was Wolverine, because he is the only one who wears a mask. But he spends plenty of time with out his mask on in the cartoons & comics, so I don't care. & In my opinion, Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine. He looks & sounds like him. Besides I love him as Wolverine. & Overall the all black costumes really do work for The X-Men, Ultimate X-Men was made to supply the movie trend & look anyway. & That comic is still on-going. X-Men still has more movies being made, including this years Wolverine movie. & If you complain about X-Men revolving around Wolverine too much. Wolverine is the character with the most comics out, either part of a team or solo title. The X-Men is Wolverine's baby. So the X-Films did alright by me.
& Here you are trying to teach me a lesson in being a fan of X-Men. Your clearly not that big a fan of X-Men if you didn't know Jean Grey has been dead. I am not looking to change your mind but in my opinion the movies are different from the ones we previously knew. So maybe since I did not agree with you I did not pay attention to the movies? Maybe your right, because I watched the movie to get entertained and not somehow discover the meaning of life by watching the Transformers Movie. I hate condescending people. And you sir are very condescending and rude. Do yourself a favor...before you try to lecture people from your transforming high horse on the origins of a fictitious characters that only kids and fanboys care about, learn how to spell properly and the construct sentences correctly. There is more to life than worrying about this upcoming GI Joe Movie and quite frankly this discussion is a complete waste of time and energy.

In other news, I saw a trailer for GI Joe Resolute on youtube. LINK: & I think Resolute looks pretty cool. Too bad it's only an hour & not longer, but it'll be awsome. Can't wait for that. Anways, I always pictured a GI Joe live action movie to be like that. A bullets flying, military movie. But they decided to go Sci-Fi adventure instead. I never knew GI Joe was Sci-Fi, but whatever. That's my only deal with the live movie. I just figured the live movie would have been done like Resolute was done, thats all.

No, the fact that the "haters" cannot manage to find one single thing they like about the movie designed to showcase the genre, they claim to love so much, to the general public makes me question the objectivity of said "haters". It gives me the feeling that perhaps they have become so ego driven that they refuse to accept that the GI Joe movie may actually have some redeeming value as a movie and as a vehicle to bring this line back from the dead, and perhaps give it new life as the Transformers movie has for that line.
but you cannot just continue to group anyone who doesn't like any one certain aspect of this movie into the "haters" catagory as if it is all encompassing for anyone who isn't overly ecstatic about the film. i think the fact that we ALL love this franchise so much is why we are ALL so impassioned about the film. and i am capable of suspending what i know and have read about the film long enough to soak in the trailer.....and it still didn't sit well with me. it is pretty unfair to say that delta or myself are narrowminded because based on what we've seen in this trailer we think this movie looks like it might blow chunks....and since we haven't seen the movie, how could we know or pass judgment? we have not actually seen the WHOLE film. did you see "meet the spartans" "nights in rodanthe" or "over her dead body"?....i'm sure you've seen the trailers for all 3 of these films.....did you get defensive about them against all the "haters" who hadn't seen the whole movie and therefore didn't deserve the right to judge the final, finished product? if i watch the trailer for Joe and pretend it is not about Joe.....it just reminds me of "independence day" (which i thought was f**king stupid). the trailers are supposed to sell the movies to the public....and if what i see in the trailer doesn't interest me enough to see the film (like TF2) why does that make ME, or anyone else WRONG or a HATER? |
