Um it's a pretty well-known fact that Jon Chu knows the mythos of GI Joe and furthermore the GI Joe mythos DOES include ninjas.
Better sleep it all off and we can discuss more tomorrow. |

This franchise seems geared toward cartoons and toys. And the movie is being helmed by a music video director who has zero understanding of the franchise or the characters. Sorry but I don't remember my Joes doing martial arts shit. It's supposed to be real American hero not real Chinese hero. Sorry if I am ranting but the 49ers just lost and I am sad.

I don't remember martial arts in G.I. Joe either. I could never figure out why Snake Eyes had a katana when his true power was public speaking. Chu's lost his kung fu grip on reality if he thinks G.I. Joe has anything to do with martial arts.
I'm trying to decide how much irony there is in mentioning G.I. Joe being a Real American Hero, not a Real Chinese Hero when using a character named Gung Ho as an avatar. |

Silent Interlude is probably one of the best remembered and loved stories in the marvel Comics run... that issue was nothing but martial arts and that was only issue 21. If you're take on Joe was the cartoon that might not be how you see things- but I was well into the comic before the cartoon- so ninjas and martial arts were always a huge part of G.I.Joe

I seem to remember in an interview, Chu said his favorite Joes were Snake-Eyes and Roadblock. Did the writers decide to ask the guy who directed a Bieber movie who his favorite Joes were before he was the helm of the project or is this pure coincidence? Hmmmm....

While I'm not crazy about ninjas, I think the action sequences we've seen look pretty cool. I don't think Ret. will be a flop, or at least I hope not. I think the Rock and Bruce will be a pretty good draw as well as Tatum. It'll be ok.
