Finally we get a G.I.Joe Video Game based on the upcoming live action Movie. Read your latest EGM, word has it this will be on all of the major platforms. So X-Box 360 fans and Playstation 3 fans rejoice! This is great news.
Mods Feel free to move this to video games if need be, I just wanted to pass along this info to my fellow Tank members. |

Most movie-based videogames suck major balls.
BUT... who knows? Come to think of it, Konami's G.I.Joe arcade was one of the best games I've ever played as a kid. It's one of my favs for the MAME (along with Elevator Action II, among others :p) Hopefully, it will be a FPS. Ya know what would rock though? a game where you play a Cobra Commando :p Don't think it would happen as you would technically be a terrorist, but, well. On another front, this is a great chance to release a G.I.Joe RPG (pen n' paper).

I'd rather have an RTS then a FPS, and with more strategy games being ported to consoles these days it certainly could be done and it would be a little more imaginative then the usual action oriented tie-games that come out most of the time.
And yes movie related games do tend to suck. The only movie tie-in game I can remember in recent years that I actually enjoyed playing was "Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay". |

Both a FPS and a RTS would be great. I actually like RTS the most, but I doubt the movie will be an "all out war" type of scenario. It will be more mission-impossible (less characters... very suicidal-commando). And in that sense, a RTS would have to be more in the color of an X-Com? Like, you have a roster of chracters and you pick a few to form a mission-specific team. It would be played in turns, I'm guessing.
Yeah... I can definitely see it.

I would prefer an over the shoulder RE4 type view, and a mix of squad based and full blown action game. I hate FPS, and am 100% certain this game won't be one. one of the very points of a Joe game would be actually seeing the character you are controlling.

Yeah... I can definitely see it. It would even make for a great ad platform in that Hasbro could use it to advertise new action figures and vehicles only seen in the game. I only push for the RTS more because, given a choice between being able to play as a handful of Joes or an army of my favorite COBRA troops and vehicles I'll take the latter any day of the week. |

While I doubt the movie will have such "all out war" scale, we could still perfectly get a RTS GIJOE game based on the toon/comic/toyline of the 80s. THAT would be da shit. We could get a movie-based game and then something like this. I can already see it. As Cobra, you would start out with a Terrordome ;)

hey it could be on the same level as Metal Gear Solid (some of the same design team is working on it from what I read).
