No offense, but this is a new thought to people?
It's basic marketing. In case the movie line blows chunks, they need something to get people back into it. So Vintage Ripcord, a Wolvering with Cover Girl, Lowlight, etc.. would be the fodder to get people back to the line and get it where it was before the movie. This never occured to anyone? Quote:
exactly. it's dumbfounding how many people want to discuss the reasoning for why products are made as if they are arbitrary decisions because it absolves them from having to actually educate themselves. if it's arbitrary, their opinions are valuable because there is no actual reasoning, and thus the ignorant can actually criticize the educated. I suppose it is my fault for being an optimist about Joe collectors.
And yes, Troynos, I share your pain ~~~~ A Mindbender figure is confirmed. Such an ugly figure. And, since they're going after nostalgia, here's hoping they wise up and give us a gentleman's madman a la VvV instead of the bench-pressing German look-alike from SNL. |

Hasbro did the exact thing you suggested with their Transformers Classics/Universe line, after the movie line. None of the 1st wave of deluxes consisted of top tier characters, but characters fans still wanted nonetheless(like me I wanted the lambo twins!).

Just because someone doesn't consider the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The reconciliation of the two persepectives that control modern distribution and demand don't have to be the same. Marketeers of the line have blatantly ignored the demographic which over-whelmingly foots the bill for the retail price one of the two ascribes to it.

i would be so happy with hasbro if they figured out a way of getting us a really cool looking Sgt Slaughter. i know they is the whole WWE thing to take into consideration but i figure if Hasbro makes 2 versions of him (one for GI JOE and one for WWE) perhaps they can work out something. maybe have a running variant of the sgt, traditional black shirt for GI JOE, black shirt with WWE logo for WWE ?

No. WWE's action figure license is to Jakks Pacific, and I believe it expires this year and will go to Mattell. They're both 'competitors' to Hasbro, so it's not gonna happen. The only reason Hasbro could do the Joe/Slaughter crossover in the 80s was because they had the rights to make the WWF figures.

They release what they release, I buy what I want. If I miss it the first time, I'll get it the second time. Always have, always will. |

Many would argue Prowl IS a top tier character.
