Man... I hope it is better than that. It really sucks that Hasbro went the route they did. WHY o WHY didn't Larry Hamma write the damn script for this? Or at least someone who WAS a GI Joe fan.
Just like with Transformers having someone who knows dick about the saga is a really stupid move. |

Wow that review did not sound good. I hope when we all see the trailer it is better than described if not then it looks like it might be a painful theater experience.

The fleshlings took out Black-Out (the helicopter). The fleshlings caused Scorponok to flee and blew off his tail (and that's what led to the Deceps shutting down the network, so the fleshlings couldn't communicate with eachother and tell eachother how to take out the giant robots). The fleshlings captured Bumblebee and had Megatron imprisoned.
And no, there were human elements in both the comic and the cartoon. Humans played an important role in both. Last edited by spacemonkeymafia; 12-10-2008 at 05:50 PM.. |

Until I see a trailer with my own eyes, I'll reserve judgement on said trailer. If it is as accurate as the reviewer says then it'll definitely hurt my prospects on the movie. I'm still going to see it regardless, hopefully its not a stinker like many are thinking its gonna be. We all love GI Joe or we wouldnt be on here dreading that this movie might suck.
On another note, how much stake does Hasbro have in this movie? Obviously its their product's name being put out there, but if the movie tanks will it hurt the toy line that we are purchasing now(not the movie figures)? The movie figures might not move much, but Hasbro would have to see that a large number of us were buying the snot out of the original lines remade figures and possibly the Resolute figs. So I guess I'm saying if the movie sucks, will it really kill the figures that were the off shoot of the 25th reintroduction? Last edited by Joebern28; 12-10-2008 at 05:52 PM.. |

Of course not, and anyone that thinks the movie has any effect on the 25th line is smoking some good weed. Look, the line is selling (without the movie, Resolute or the new comic) well enough to warrant new waves every other month and new vehicles and new comic packs and other assorted "specials". Hasbro isn't stupid enough to stop producing that. What the movie will do, if it's good, is bring in a new generation of fans and a new springboard on which to make vehicles and figures from. The 25th line as it is, it's stagnant. It will never grow beyond the occasional special "new" character, but will always be about redoing the vintage characters, and once that runs out? Then the line will die. So the movie, Resolute and IDW comic are needed to bring new life to the line and to keep it moving and growing.

Thanks Troynos, I'd seen some comments that the movie was gonna hurt the toy line most of us love, and I just didnt see the correlation. I couldnt see Hasbro stretching themselves into the movie so far as to hurt production of the toy line. On a side note, I think the Resolute toon might have AWESOME potential! For both toy and cartoon continuity.

Well Im not Smoking any weed at the moment but I bet you if the movie Tanks it will affect the figs.....and any future plans for them. The 25th line is not this hot seller you think it is.......if it was you wouldnt see any Ratts on the shelves......UBP.....hell even the peg Warmers would be far and few....Will we stop getting figs in some form? No......but Im sure they will do what they always do....Reinvent them Every other year or year.......maybe they will kill the 4 inch line and only do 12 inchers......who knows, but if this movie tanks....you better believe it will affect the line........somehow and some way....

Boy Mafia, for us the collectors sake I hope youre wrong and the toys arent affected. Im not holding out high hopes for the movie so it could always be better than I expect. If the movie stinks, it will just go down in the annals as being an awful movie. If it takes the toy line down with it, it will be an albatross Hasbro will never hear the end of with the fans of the 25th line.

Well, that description is about exactly what I expected, so, if true. . .no big shocker. I can't wait to see how the Joes attempt to handle Cobra's "green ooze of doom!"
This movie is going to be as retarded as Transformers, if that is possible. |
