I question the nature of the enemy in the film. Cobra is a terrorist organization and has been from the beginning. With the sensitivity to global terror I hope they keep it real and do not go soft on the plot like in the animated movies.
I also foresee some issues with the "real american hero" slogan pissing some people off...which I personally think is ridiculous, and I am NOT a die hard buy all american product person. The world we live in is confusing. We can put into action in so many films americans being heros but once the words are actually spoken it becomes offensive. Maybe we could really upset some and make Cobra commander Arabic...just an abrasive thought. |

the original copy for RAH described Cobra as a para-military terrorist organization. just drop the terrorist and Cobra is simply a para-military organization -- not bad and far better than the "evil organization" it was described as during the GvC era.

I definitely agree with that. Para-military makes sense because as nasty as our fave villains are, they are not what we consider terrorists today, I.E. strapping bombs on children to kill and maim innocents. Of course, so long as the Joes are actually going to be a "feel-good-international" peace keeping agency, I wouldn't watch the movie for free online much less support it in theatres. Shame.:( |

Maybe everybody could stop speculating reasons to hate the movie that is still in the casting stage, about which we know next to nothing, except that the Int'l force/Brussels location has been explicitly debunked by Hasbro itself.

Can you provide a link to Hasbro's "debunking?" I'd be happy to change my mind if this is true. |

I wonder if they will include US military interaction? How would they not have any affiliation with it since all the joe members are from some form of military branch.
I dont mind the idea of a Rainbow six type of unit. International doesnt bother me a bit. I would much rather see a movie dark with reality than something with a silly plot and poor dialogue. |

The thrust of their statement is that GiJoe is about HEROISM and that implies to me they think the American aspect is merely incidental and uninportant. I strongly disagree with that line of thinking as do many others. You have every right to have and express any opinion regarding these facts that you wish but you are living in an alternate reality if you honestly beleive Hasbro's statement in any way implies the movie will feature GIJoe: A Real American Hero. |
