Collect only what you like. If you try to be a completionist you will go broke. Unless you have a bottomless checking account. Also if you have a significant other it is wise to check with them on how they feel about your collecting habits. Personally I first collected all the figures that meant the most to me growing up. IE Snake Eyes V2, Storm Shadow v1. Then expand from there. Just make sure that what your buying you actually like and are not doing it because it will complete some set or team. Bottom line just make sure your having fun, because that's what this hobby is all about.

Yeah I'd start off getting what you like...the good thing about that is with what someting like 40 Dukes and 50 plus SE's and so many multiples of characters you can chose which ones you like best instead of have an army of Dukes like most of us do.
Also and while this is out of the Toy Collection I always recommend the DVD's and the Marvel comics run (buy the trade paperbacks if possible easier and cheaper to get). |

Go to every store you can and buy up every Snake Eyes, Duke Storm Shadow you can find. Seriously. Buy them all and travel to multiple states to do so. If you see something stupid like an "alley viper" leave it. Those suck and nobody wants them.

Anyway, as its already been stated go with what you like. Pursuit of Cobra is a great place to start looking for figures. Its still very small over all and the figures are impressively detailed.
Just pick up a couple off the shelf that appeal to you and see if you're willing to fall further down the hole. The latest versions of Duke and Snake-eyes are hands down winners actually, despite the fear-o-scalper sarcasm above. |

If you weren't into the toys, sounds like you must have been in to the comics or toons or both. Fortunately, as was said, there are reissues of each. O bought the 3 volumes of season 1 of the cartoon and ended up getting rid of them because I just couldn't stand the cartoon anymore. But I love the comics and have all the trade paperback volumes up to 9 (issue 90).
Btw, welcome to the tank! I agree with what most have already said: get what YOU like. I'll also add the caveat that if you spend a lot of time on here, don't let the talk of others influence what you get. But I guess that boils down to: get what you like!

Edit: Oop, I had the exact same thought. I don't know if I should feel scared or not. Last edited by sharky; 02-02-2011 at 10:52 AM.. |
