The Catering Corp is a very important part of the military, why isn't their a Catering Corp Joe?
Roadblock kinda fits it, but not exactly. I know a Chef isn't exactly the most entertaining toy, but we do have communications officers and mine detectors, I wouldn't call them fun either. Plus it leaves the way open to a new troop builder, GI Joe Caterer. |

We cooked our own food in the Coast Guard they're called FS- Food Specialists and they rank like normal enlisted personal all the way up to E-9s and CWO. The only hired "catering corp" were the people that work at bootcamp. I dont know how the other services do it.

who the lunch ladies at boot? Yeah some of them were spouses most were actually wives of the fishermen from the town. Its a really tight nit community. They were under direction of the Tracen FS's though. My last unit was an 87ft PB Cutter and we had one FS 1(E-6) on board.

If GI Joe is elite special missions force, the best of the best, I doubt someone from a food services MOS would make the team, especially considering they wouldn't have any type of infantry training. Besides, whats cool about being a cook in the military? Nothing, thats what.
In the sandbox, the government contracted that work out to civilians. Most Marine bases have also went to civilian run chow halls. |

When I was in the Navy, the CSs (culinary specialists) were the most looked down upon bunch on the entire ship.
They hated their jobs and did not care what got served to everyone else. As long as they can cook good tasting stuff for themselves after hours. Most of them bitched and moaned constantly about their crappy job and long hours. To be honest....I never considered them "real" Navy.
