I won't argue. I stopped buying Star Wars in 2001... so what do I know. I am just going off what I see online - and how they look in the package. Some of them are very hard to resist. I've got to admit - I will be buying my first Star Wars figure in almost a decade as soon as I find that Classic Series Gamorrean Guard.

The articulation and attention to detail make POC very choice in my book. SW line? I have all the orginal figures & vehicles and even back then I remember thinking the articulation sucked cause the figures moved like frankensteins, no knees or elbows! The new SW figures are better but I don't get why some have better articulation than others? Even in the same line? Darth Mauls legs don't move! What a hose! I was so pissed when I bought him! ...The vintage SW packaging is so awesome tho, takes me back like the 25th line so they got me hooked again!

I forgot about the card art. This has always made Joe special, and they certainly did NOT drop the ball with PoC.

Dont get me wrong I love the card art for POC but the faces are pretty corny looking and look nothing like the actual figures... nit picking I know but I think they could have drawn them better... Overall a major win over the debacle that was the ROC packaging... Those looked like something that was designed for dollar tree!

My point though is in 1996 we got Jedi Luke, he was great for 1996 but sucked in 2004, then they gave us Jedi Luke with the Rancor and then again with the Skiff...better and awesome for 2004 but sucks hard compared to the 2008 Jedi Luke...awesomeness incarnate...but still not perfect. NOW 2010, we have the best Luke to date...he's perfect in my book, short yes...but he's supposed to be. He's accurate and totally playable and pretty damn near perfect...finally a Jedi Luke I can be happy with and sell off all the others. They release each figure with the possibility for improvement each time. Take Commander Cody for instance. His first release in 2006 was not fully articulated...but you bought another one in 2008 and then again in 2010, because they keep improving the articulation in order to justify selling yet another figure you already have. It's time for Vader to get a Force Unleashed upgrade, super super duper articulation so that he can be posed in those kick ass moves from the game. The days of Vader being more or less a lightsaber wielding statue are over. I'd gladly pay vintage figure prices for the same and consistent superior articulation of the Vintage Lukes (or the Clone Wars Madalorians for that matter). |
