I really liked both the Astro-Viper and the Hydro-Viper.
Astro-Viper seemed like at least a "semi-realistic" astronaut Viper, and came out before all the Star Brigade stuff really exploded and suddenly EVERYONE became an astronaut. It may seem silly now, but as a kid it just seemed to make perfect sense to me that Cobra would have space-troopers, especially since G.I. Joe got a space shuttle. Plus Countdown (who also rates as "cool" in my book) needed some bad guys to fight! That they came with an awesome armed jetpack and looked cool in general was just a bonus. Hydro Viper I loved based on looks alone. In hindsight the concept is a little bit silly, but given that Cobra was already doing "surgical procedures to make troops more effective" on characters like Strato Viper I didn't find it all that off-putting for the more extreme Hydro-Viper. I just thought they looked awesome with that whole "Demon of the Deep" motif. Heck, as a kid I made them even more extreme, pretending they had "poison claws/fingernails" and the like. Kind of like a precursor to the not-as-well-executed "V-Troops" of the Valor vs. Venom era. |

I've got a hard time deciding between Toxo's and Tele's.
I always loved both of them, but the great sculpted helmet and backpack design on the Toxo Viper just pips the post. Also the "Leaky Suit Brigade" was such a great term.

Alright, just to clarify. I like Frag Viper...alot. The reason he was 2nd tier, was A: the time he came in and B: You give him a hi-li thing to chuck grenades. For a group of people who have enough money to put Vipers on the moon and the furthest depths of the sea you can't give him a damn grenade launcher!?
Tele-Viper shouldnt be 2nd tier, but I had no idea how many people DIDN'T like him until I found the Tank...c'mon man Tele is O.G!...But because of his poplularity I stuck him in here. |

No Rock Viper!?!?!?!?! That is my vote. The most under-rated, over-looked viper class. So what if you have to grow a mustache and soul patch to join the ranks? Seriously, this would be a cool update for POC.

Frag-viper. I think Tele-viper shouldn't be on this list. He is a winner.

I always thought the Tele-viper was pretty cool even back when he was first released.
