Words cannot express how excited I am! In less than 4 weeks my family and I are moving to Colorado. We got an extremely nice house, PLUS I'll finally have a room just for my
GI Joe collection. For a long time, my collection has been in plastic totes and boxes stuffed in closets. I'm so excited that I'll finally be able to display my entire collection in one room. Now this is where YOU come in Tankers! What do you think are the nessesities for a Joe room? The room itself is about 12ft x 10ft, so I need to be space consious. I have about 300 figures, 65 loose vehicles, and 20 MIB vehicles. I also have about 30 cardbacks that I wanted to display by some means. Alrighty guys, start spewing out ideas!

Are any of those vehicles particularly big?
What are your favorites? Are there any windows? |

Congratulations on the move to Colorado. I moved to CO a few years ago (originally from SoCal) and LOVE IT here!!! You should do one wall in your room camo (just one wall, leave the others plain. Use your favorite color and pattern and maybe throw the GI JOE logo in it somewhere.
When I get an office, thats the plan. Also want to do a mural of my favorite characters. I Just have large paintings for now. |

I suggest going with a tasteful minimalist motif. Just send me 3/4 of your collection and we can forget about my interior design consultation fee. Deal?

Here's what I did...
1. Cover the windows: You don't want light coming in and ruining your figures. I placed 2 bookshelves in front of the windows and used them to display loose figures. 2. Hang your aircraft from the ceiling. This gets those pesky planes & copters off of much needed flat surfaces. 3. Modular plastic shelving. Stackable, and you can still pin things to the wall behind them. 4. Once it's all together, go in there at least once a day to enjoy it! This is the primary rule I live by... I have all of this stuff, I want to see it at least once a day. That's it, really! I hope it helps! Minimalism is not a word in my vocabulary... |

I only help design Joe rooms where the collection contains a minimum of 13,500 v1 Vipers. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

When i did my war room I made shelving on one wall for just the figures and then displayed them by the year and wave of their release, same as the vehicles with driver/operator. I hung the aircraft from the ceiling with 30 lb test fishing line, strong enough to hold them but this enough to not be seen easily.

The crown jewel of my collection is my Rolling Thunder, but I plan to build a custom USS Flagg "table" to display all my aircraft. Yes a small one.

Congrats! No matter what kind of layout you decide on, one of the most important things is to plan ahead. Make sure you leave room for your collection to grow!
