I had a blast building my Joe room this past summer and It turned out great. I can't stress enough the importance of DUST FREE. I used to have my display on open shelves but it was very hard to keep it clean. Now it is behind removable plexiglass.... displayed and dust free.
Take a look at what I have now for some ideas. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...oom-wip-3.html Have fun and plan ahead.

Congrats on achieving what I believe to be the secret dream of all Joe collectors! haha. I think the 1st thing to decide is, do you want to make battle scenes, or just display the stuff lined up on shelves?

An issue that has not been covered is lighting. Do not use fluoresent again do not use the evil color sucking fluoresent lighting of any kind instead invest in led lighting while a little on the pricer side it will not harm your collection. They do not emit any u.v. Light and they generate very little heat. They are not just the little pucks any longer. And they are very cheap to operate. Much cheaper than evil cfl's. Look around home depot, menards and, lowes is carrying some decent product. Any q's pm me that is all.

Ok here it goes... You want shelves that are clear, I suggest buying plexan(clear plastic glass like stuff) sheets from Home depot and having it cut in the back by their table saw into the appropriate sizes. Buy book shelf hangers(50 cents a pop) and a hot glue gun and create your own clear shelving by screwing the hangers in and gluing the plexan to the hangers. Buy a shit load of the clear Joe stands off ebay. and you are able to see all of your figures from any point! Otherwise you will never touch or see the guys down low or up high. Further more if you are into dio-ing put a large piece of plywood down on a cheap table and start building, dedicate a side of the room to "play" pose your figures and vehicles, create scenarios with styrofoam est... tons of fun. (you could even paint the wall like the sky mountain range and all!
Good luck!

Don't take it personal. I wasn't referring to you or your collection.

I remember the movie Panic Room with Jodie Foster... she was just stuck in there with nothing to do while the bad guys broke into her house. If I had a Panic Room... it would be my Joe Room. In the event of the slightest sound I would declare someone breaking into my house and immediately rush into my Pa... I mean Joe Room and just stay in there. LOL.

i use a combination of wire shelves at the top and wood shelves at the bottom and put my loose figs on the top of the shelf. Also I use things like posters and old Comic book pages and frame them to use as the backdrop for my figures. It adds to the motif. My wife picked up some camo curtains to cover the windows. Also I use a spice rack to display loose figs. On the wall mounted wire shelves I put some gallery lights underneath. It looks great to have lights shining down from above and at an angle. Also the side of the wall where they door opens against is a great place to put your carded figs. Use up the entire wall.
