My 1st Joe ever and I guess I have a spot for his purple vest wearin' self!
Reading his filecard, TV's gear still seems pretty elaborate by todays standards. I mean his headgear alone is pretty damn impressive. So..his "gun". I take it this is the jamming/anti jamming hardware stated on the filecard? Lastly...how did you use him as a kid? I can tell you rightnow, when I played with him, his gear was everything from a laser to a camera...and even a fire extinguisher that often annoyed Blowtorch lol. Long live Tele-Viper. |

You know I can clearly remember him being my 1st ever G.I.Joe figure...and I can remember trips to the store looking for more figs and having to go through crap loads of TV...he was a peg warmer.
I still have both my original, and Python Patrol TV. If anyone has his accesories...hit me up! |

Cool topic!
I love the Tele-Viper because he's just sort of 'there' - he's not an infantryman like the Viper or Trooper, and he's not a lethal specialty trooper like the Toxo Viper or Alley Viper. To this day I'm surprised Hasbro made a figure that's most deadly feature was that GI Joe might not get their e-mails when he's around. XD I always used his 'weapon' as a camera and sometimes a laserbeam. Of course, I'm sure some 'real' GI Joe fan would have liked to bust into my house, snatch the figure from me and go on and on about how GI Joe is military fantasy and laser beams were out of the question... XD Tom

Know how I know this? Because you posted a declassified flyer which was meant for fun as a NEWS ITEM. No one would ever tell you anything because the VERY FIRST THING you would do is post it here. Probably incorrectly. |

I think as a child I used the Tele-Viper's "gun" as a sonic boom-type thing, so he was actually pretty bad-ass on the battlefield, could knock out tanks with that thing.
FYI, COBRA Commander's hair dryer was a laser pistol that fired a sustained beam like the one in "Real Genius" that could slice through an entire army like a giant lightsaber. He could just turn on the beam and rake it across a battlefield and slice everybody and all the vehicles into parts.

Snake Eyes's sword was, like Excalibur, made from an unknown metal from an asteroid generations ago and reflected CC's laser back onto the COBRA army...

Being a soldier who has deployed I can attest to the fear accompanied with not being able to talk to your headquarters. A soldier on the battlefield who is dedicated to disrupting said communications is a frightening prospect especially when you are a small unit working behind the scenes in a country that does not know about your presence. The Tele-Viper although poorly armed is definitely a worthy adversary.

My TV when I was a kid, was never a favorite but he was always with any Cobra squad I put together. I can remember always wanting a bunch of him if I ever got a Terror Drome. Never got a Drome though. :(
