I would say type A for the Joe team, and type B for Cobra.

Although I was too young to remember the original 13 when it was first released, I always had an affinity for the more realistic joes, however; I also loved some of the more flashy vehicles, so long as I felt they had a small shread of realism. (at least to the understanding of a 6-10 yar old) battleforce 2000 was never something that even sparked my interest, but I did like characters like flash and sic fi.
I guess I fit into the A/B category... If that even exists. Haha!

Different GI Joe Universes:
OG 12" Line from the 60s Action Man Big Jim ARAH Sunbow ARAH Marvel ARAH DiC Action Force Sgt. Savage Extreme JvsC VvsV SpyTroops Sigma Six DD Comic IDW Comic 25th/cartoon/comic/international/ME ROC Resolute POC Renegades Any combination of the above Any of the above plus addition of other toy/comic lines Any of the above plus custom figures/vehicles/equipment None or all of the above, but your own imagined alternate universe Well, for me it's more of nice mix between the 82 - 88 toy line with concepts from the Sunbow and Marvel Comics. I do find some of the stories and concepts of other eras fun and interesting, but my Joe Universe doesn't really include them. I don't think I will expanding into the other eras until I have an action figure of every major character from every episode of the Sunbow cartoons. That means there are a lot of customs to be made, for me anyways. Please tell me if I missed any universes or alternate realities.

As a kid I started with GI Joe to add on to my Star wars collection. Both worked well togeather so as a kid I was the type B.
As I got back into Joe as an adult, I appreciated the realism of the O13 more. So I am a type A for Joe, but Cobra will always have something strange so you have to be a type B for cobra as their weapons were more sci-fi. Some things I changed like Flash, not being a laser rifle trooper, (Since everyone in the cartoon had lasers in seemed redundant.) So he became a bomb disposal officer, which I think may have been the original intent of the figure. Like others have posted here, I never liked the bright colored shoot me gear, as long as the design makes sense then it works. |

I like a more realistic version of GI Joe and Cobra. I tend to ignore the characters and factions that I don't like. For example I would never buy an updated Cobra La toy and there are no shirtless Mindbendors or Big Boa's in my Cobra army.

i like a more realistic version but i also mix a lot of things from the joes history to make up my joeverse.
I actulaay made an outline explaining it, i though the true military spirit of joe was what brought me in, and the ocasional bits of sci-fi kept me in. |

I try very hard to come up with viable, if not Sci-Fi, explanations for ever theme, character, idea and item that comes out of hasbro. At times, some of my ideas have shown up "officially" from someone else, at other times I'll have an explanation that gets trashed and something else becomes fan acceptable. But I try to work everything toy related into my "verse" in one way or another.

I'm pretty into the TYpe A mode, believable military style stuff. But having said that, I do like the secret agent type stuff that has been coming out recently with say, the Cobra comic.
As a kid, the multicolored Cobras always bothered me, but I still bought them. I would have been happier with the Cobra noncamo trend if all the Viper types were the same basic colors (say dark blue and dark red, with black and silver touches) - then they would have looked like an army. I do like the idea of a BUGG, but never had one. |
