until joining the tank.
My interest was rekindled shortly before the 25th stuff hit stores. I discovered the Tank a while after. So here are a few things I did not know about GI Joe until I joined the tank. Please share yours as well. 1st I had no idea customizing was such an art form. Most of us had switched parts and used markers to color our figures as kids but who knew that some day it would evolve to where it is today. 2nd Variants. Had I found the Tank sooner I would have never opened my SE with black timber and I would have bought the 2 Yellow Stalkers I saw on the pegs. I know there is more I have learned but it's time for y'all (yes I am Southerner) to chime in.

before joining the tank i had no idea that toy scalpers existed...i always assumed that scalpers stood out front of arenas and sold tickets for ridiculous prices.
i knew nothing about variants either...or about paint app variation and quality...before the tank (and before reaching the technical age of an adult) when i would buy a toy it was opened without inspection as soon as possible i also had no idea joes could be bought online...or that there was an online community for gi joe i knew nothing of the following sigma 6 DTC sgt savage mega marines i didn't know those were actually gi joe...i thought they were just gi joe-esque had no idea you could (the generic you not YOU and certainly not ME) mold things...anything...i guess i always pictured a gigantic factory with steel ladles pouring in the liquid plastic into gigantic molds. didn't know about bbts...and i wish i still didn't know...technically that's my wife wish...sadly i just wish she didn't know that i knew about bbts |

I didn't know grown men (and women) take toys so seriously. I never wouldn't thought I'd see adults argue over a childrens toy.

I never knew the amount of detail and the processes you could take to retool, remake, and redesign yur action figures. I have to say it has become somewhat of a hobby as well as a release from the stressors of life.

I'd have to say while I had a basic knowledge of International characters from YoJoe but I'm always finding out about something new about internationals.
Oh and prototypes I had seen pics but never as many as I've seen posted here, while there are alot of people who bring some awesome prototype stuff to the Tank, Grye esspecially always has some great stuff. |

1)The abundance of other toy collectors. Never realized how many there were.
2)The abundance of toys actually intended for collectors. It never crossed my mind that they made toys with collectors, not just kids in mind. 3)Why some figures were always hard to find. I never knew about army builders, or chase figures - I always wondered why I could never find some figures. 4)How much freaking money is involved in some of these collectables 5)The customizer community
