I got a set of Snake Eyes (83 and 85) complete about a year and a half ago and I was extremely excited about getting them up until I opened the box that they came in when I got them through the mail. A huge whiff of cigarette residue smell came out of that box real quick and stunk up my room within a couple minutes. Tried airing the figures outside for two days, tried frebreezing the hell out of them but to no avail. Literally it seemed the seller breathe smoke on the items for 20 plus years and nothing I did, did a damn thing to get off the stench. To tell you how bad the stench was, I left the figures in my computer room for one day (after the two day air out and febreeze barrage) and not only did it stink up the room it stunk up half the house. The seller had a no return policy but I indicated to him I will be returning them promptly back to him and I expect a refund. Love the figures but could not stand the smell.
I have been surrounded by cigarette smokers all my life, including my brother, but in enclosed spaces with little or no circulation I can get headaches from the smell. Over the years on Ebay, I have noticed items I get from the southeastern united states are more likely to have smoke smelling items not all but more often than other regions of the US. The Snake Eyes set I got from North Carolina. Smoking is acceptable down South and not scorned like where I live. It is not even thought twice about so I can understand to a point the lack of communicating that items may have a smoke smell. International can also be dicey too. As for the animal part it does not affect me, but the dander can be a killer for some people. Last edited by rhodium1977; 10-23-2010 at 01:29 PM.. |
