Should cool figures/characters come with vehicles? I think some characters with the potential to be really awesome were held down because they were tied to their vehicle. This seems to happen even more with Cobra. Take Copperhead and Wild Weasel for example. Not only are the characters growth stunted but I know my figs rarely leave the confines of the vehicles they come with when I play GI Joe with my son. Copperhead is the Water Moccasin driver and that’s pretty much all he does. At least in the case of my Joe world and in the Sunbow cartoon. Not sure about the comics, maybe they got more love there.
Anyways, what do you guys think? |

I dunno, I think it depends on the fig, my examples being the Cyber-Viper, and Volcano Viper presently

Personally, the cool figures with the vehicles are a big reason why I wanted certain vehicles as a kid. The Rattler was awesome but it was even better with Wild Weasel. Same goes true with the Dragonfly and Wild Bill or Darklon and his Evader. If not for the vehicles I probably wouldn't have cared as much for the figures and vice versa. Single carded Darklon or Wild Weasel would have been fine but without the vehicles, some characters like Wild Weasel would have been just another pilot just like Ace and the Skystriker.
If I were collecting the post 25th "stuff", I would be extremely disappointed with the vehicle/figure combo offering. There are some cool if overpriced vehicles (POC) with crap figures. Though it is somewhat better than crap vehicles and crap figures (ROC), it doesn't quite live up to the ARAH era as far as I am concerned. The figure/vehicle combos made each other. |

Thunder was my favorite figure for a long time, and I always felt like he was held back by the Slugger.

Covergirl is one of the few that didn't seem to get held down at all by her vehicle.
