Two things count against it for me: The previous TRANSFORMERS novels (which stank to high heaven) and (possible) IDW continuity being involved.

I'll read the first one at least. I would recommend Larry Correia's Monster Hunter International books in the meantime. I got the feeling this guy could probably do a Joe book when I read the first one. And it would definitely make a good action figure line.

OK so...is this a novel...or a novella...does it have pictures? are they color pictures? if it's a novel will there be more than one...and if it's a novella...erm..can there be more than one?
this thread is how i found out about this...erm writing project...and while i'm excited i'm confused as i have no idea what type of book it is other than that it is one...or more. i do not take time out to read books...although if i wasn't on the tank so much i could probably read a few classics ;)

I've been reading alot of novels lately, so a small collection of novellas would be right up my alley. I just hope they do it well.

Novellas would be right up my alley right now cause I just don't have the time to devote to reading a full length novel.
I hate starting a book and then not being able to finish it for awhile.

I hope it is good. I liked the prequel novel to the Joe movie - was far more "ARAH" than the movie it was setting up. In my desperation to read more Joe books, I've even read several of the kid's joe novels (not the choose your own adventures or picture books) and they were ... well, kid books, but reminded me of the 80s cartoon. I've said from the beginning that IDWs comics only flaw is that they read like a novel - which meant it was slow and built up to the action - so maybe they are taking this approach to their novellas and telling stories that haven't fit in to their comics. I really would like for them to put in a book form their comic books as I think they would be an awesome read.
PS. if anyone has any of those old junior novels and wants to get rid of them, pm me.

I hear ya. I've been trudging through "Extreme Measures" by Vince Flynn lately. It's a good book, but I'm not a huge fan of his writing style, so I can't really dive into it like I normally do. I just finished reading The Defector by Daniel Silva. That was a really good book. My frustration with Flynn may also have something to do with next up for me is the Le Carre classic "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". I'm really looking forward to that.

Like many of you, this is the first I'm hearing of any Joe stories. I am a voracious reader and will look forward to giving it a chance. Last edited by Sgt Humpty; 10-03-2010 at 08:42 AM.. Reason: typo!!! |
