I want to open this up to anyone who has an itch to be scratched due to the diminishing quality of the present filecards. Personally I view filecards almost as important as the figures themselves. Many of the Joes have little else than the filecards to relate their character to the audience. Particularly the fanboy characters who can be wide open to interpretation.
So feel free to add anything you want to contribute. I would like to thank joecustoms.com for their wonderful filecard generator. Try it. It's fun! My real purpose is to make fans aware of the filecards and if I'm lucky, they may at least add back the birthplace on the filecards. (Delaware got left high and dry.) First up Mercer: So many details missing. Here's how I wanted it to read: Mercer Urban Assault Troop Sgt Major Mercer was a typical American youth. He excelled at sports, loved cars, hunting, boating, and loved his country. Had he been a better scholar he may have gotten himself a football scholarship. Figuring he wasn't quite cut out for school, he joined the Army after one run-in with the law, upon the judges orders. His athletic ability, and homegrown common sense, soon found him a home in the 75th Ranger Battalion. Mercer has completed: Airborne School, Ranger School, Air Assualt School, Surveillance Leaders Course, SERE Training, Military Free Fall, and Underwater Operations. He also crossed trained with British Special Boat Service and German GSG-9. Expert with over 50 types of machine guns, pistols, rifles, crew served weapons, and explosives, including Cobra standard weapons. When Hawk formed the Joe team he brought in men he had served with and trusted. One of those men happened the be his Reconnaissance Troop Sgt Major while part of the Combat Applications Group.(CAG)* When asked to take on such a dangerous undercover mission Mercer didn't even have to think about it. (Subject is also rated MOS 88K Watercraft Operator) Mercer had been undercover within Cobra for so long they almost forgot about him. For over 3 years he managed to learn the ins and outs of Cobra tactics. Although he wasn't so well received when he was first brought back into the Joes, it was soon apparent how much of patriot this guy is. After his reconciliation period he was able to lose his undercover identity and be reinstated to his full rank. He now serves as the Urban Assualt Troop Sgt Major. *(CAG-otherwise known as Delta Force) #Mods I would have put this in the new creative section but it won't let me.#

Couldn't fit all the bio stuff in I wanted and keep the "other information" so below is the original narrative. I mostly wanted to explain how someone who grew up raising hogs ended up in a technical field which the filecard never did. Topside was always one of my favorites being one of the few Navy personnel in the Joes. I wish his character had been developed more and that his uniform would have been redesigned in a second release. Guess I'll just be happy with the custom I'm working on. I also wanted to keep his original SMS of Telecommunications Tech and after researching Navy Rates, CTI and IT seemed like the best fit. But, from the story on his original filecard I also didnt see him as a computer nerd. In my mind he had an interest in electronics and computers and used them to modernize his family's farm operations. Maybe to ease his conscience at the thought of leaving them behind to join the Navy. "Topside joined the Navy thinking that there was more to life than the farm he had grown up on. He didn't have a particular specialty in mind, just wanted adventure and to see the world. Noting Blanchet's high ASVAB scores in the Administration and Technical fields his NC promptly signed him to the first open billet on an Amphibious Assault Ship. It was while operating on a VBSS team that Topside came to the Joe's attention. A freighter of Scottish registry was found to be carrying some highly classified material with snake sigils all over it. The guys that came to pick it up were impressed with how squared away TS was. Not long after that mission he received a transfer letter signed by an Adm. Colby reassigning him to the USS Flagg." Last edited by Topside; 09-29-2010 at 04:09 PM.. |

I've been doing something along these lines for some time...basically I decided to take repaints and make some new characters out of the repaints.
For example here's my redone Anti-Venom Task Force.... Last edited by Owner of a Lonely B.A.T.; 07-27-2019 at 09:05 PM.. |

Vapor Trail is still WIP. But nearly finished. Just haven't had much time for customs lately. Diamond can be found here: Also you can find her in the customs here on the Tank.
