When I got older, all of our childhood toys were put up in a shed, except the Tomahawk. I kept it in my room, because even though I was a cool teenager, the Tomahawk was even cooler. And I was going to keep it forever. I went off to college, got married, and my mom decides to do something stupid like move to Florida. I lived in another city and didn't get a chance to go to her house while she was packing up.
Anyway, from the way she talked, she got rid of all of our toys, and I was so upset, because I kept that Tomahawk for a reason. Anyway, come to find out, a cousin of mine stopped by my mom's house when she was packing and took some of our stuff to storage, then my brother ended up with some of the stuff, and about a year ago he brought me my very first Joe vehicle, the '82 VAMP, and the Tomahawk! So I got it back in relatively nice condition. And it's good that I got it back when I did, as my brother and I have had a falling out and haven't talked in almost a year!!

Sort of a Joe story...
I got the MASK Thunderhawk with Matt Trakker for Christmas one year, and on our way to my grandparents house I dropped his helmet in the backseat of my parents Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. The helmet fell down between the seat and the seat back never to be found again. So I was feeling rather nostalgic when G.I. Joe released Specialist Trakker. Now I have like half a dozen of the damn spectrum helmets laying around in my fodder tray. |

For me it was the loss of my Cobra Hydrofoil.
In '87 My dad flew into a fit of rage and destroyed it by putting his foot through the top of it, splintering it into about 100 pieces (better it though than us). It was an act with which I tormented him for years... it was one of my absolute favorite toys. About 2 years ago now I decided to begin building one from pieces gathered here & there... and about a year ago I completed it (with the exception of the lens, which I don't think I ever had in my original either). It was a labor of love, but it does remain one of my all-time favorites. Now when Dad comes over and goes into "the room" I always say, and look dad, here's my boat you destroyed... you owe me about $125. |

As a kid on a trip to Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, I found a Recondo & SEv2. They were tortured for infomation then shot as an enemy to cobra!
Seriously: I lost a Scrap Iron in my friend's sandpile, He never let me go look for it, But he left a Voltron figure at my house before we lost touch, so its kind of even. Also when my mom tossed the Whale, Storm Shadow was in the storage area inside it. (Storm Shadow was my first custom, I used white out to remove the Cobra symbol, & he because Billy.) |

After my mother remarried when I was 9. For 2 years I was swamped with Joes, MOTU and Rambo (remember those big guys and the playset). The reason why is we never had money enough money before that. My only toy for the longest was the straight arm snake eyes and outside lol. so those first 2 years I was swamped with toys it was awesome. well they eventually decided to move and I had to pack up my Terradrome, Rattler, and many other toys. Think it came to about 10 or so huge boxes. When we moved, we didn't unpack until a month later because the new house was still being worked on. during this month, the old house we lived in burnt down. when we finally unpacked my boxes were no where. not even one. Then my mom relized where she put them. yep in the basement of the old house one night to keep them out of the weather. talk about devasted. never resplaced any of them, well some with the 25th line and the MOTUC line but none of the originals

Put my favourite, Storm Shadow v2, on top of the chest freezer while I was getting some ice cream out, but rather than the usual ninja trick of sliding down and getting stuck on the edge of the lid (as I was too little to open it fully) he proceeded to drop down the back, unbeknownst to me (and I forgot I'd had him there too as he went pretty much everywhere with me). We went to Spain on holiday the next day, and after lots of frantic searching I presumed I'd lost him there (not very pleased at all I'll tell you now).
Was pleasantly surprised to find him a year later looking for a ball which had been knocked behind the freezer On another occasion, I had just (been) bought Muskrat and Tiger Force Duke, and was demonstrating their amazing camo abilities to my Dad while he was looking at a plane, only to find that I couldn't then find them in the long grass on the farmer's field. An hour or so later we managed to find them. Once again, I had not been overly happy in the meantime! Other than that, there were the usual back garden (yard) battles, where the covert team would be so covert they would be completely forgotten during the battle and the cleanup and remembered around about bedtime, resulting in a frantic rush into the garden with a torch to find them again. I was also particularly fond of climbing trees in our back garden, and I'd invariably take a Joe + grappling hook with me, which would also be forgotten only to be remembered that evening or the next day. None the worse for wear other than a bit of rain or dew (this is England after all). |

Once, the kid across the street and I were playing in my basement with our Joes. We were all over the place, he left, I went back into the basement to put my stuff away and I couldn't find my Short Fuze. Naturally I assume that "kid across the street" had stolen it.
Years and years later, I was at my mothers new house looking through some old toys of mine with my son that my mom had kept. One of them was a plastic oil truck. I could hear something rattling around inside and I rememberd how the oil tank part could be removed easily. So I popped that sucker open, and what did I find? SF. I guess that in the process of playing that I had hidden him in there and forgot. It's a good thing I never accused KFAtS of stealing it. |

Remember that DEF Cutter with the white MP5 and that ridiculous light-up grapple hook-launching thingy? I was well into young adulthood and as a gift, my sister gave me that one because she found it at some grocery store while buying a cake to make for my birthday.
I kept that figure MOC for damn near 15 years, lost it when we moved just a few years ago, and found it again about four months ago. It's probably the least valuable of any of my MOC ARAH-era Joes, but I'd never give that one up because it was the first carded version of Cutter and I never had the WHALE when I was coming up, but always wanted Cutter. And, no - none of my carded ARAH joes are for sale as long as I have a job and more than 3 cents to my name, but my parents were thinking WAY ahead when they'd spend the extra $2 and throw one MOC ARAH Joe in a box between 1982 and 1986. |

hmmm well the only one that never was found was Rock and Roll v1. One day when I was 10 I think I was playing in my room in a crossover with my Star Wars stuff. Rock & Roll was captured by Cobra and some Stormtroopers and was taken to the Sarlacc Pit....a big bowling ball bag filled with Mardi Gras beads. Well before he was thrown in he took the Cobra officer in with him. I got called to dinner and off I went. When I went back to my room it was bedtime so I threw the bag into my closet and off to sleep.
The next day I realized the CO and RR were still in the Sarlacc Pit.....well I found the CO but RR was gone...I guess it doesn't take a 1000 years to be digested. Well I never did get him until about two years ago when my wife picked him up in Philly on a business trip. I have no idea what happened to him...still have that bag and every so often I look into it to see if somehow he's still in there. As far as letting friends play with them...that was a no go. partially because I lived way outside of town and my friends didn't come over that often but I was also highly protective of them. I brought my Rattler to school in the 4th grade for show and tell and some douche tried to steal Wild Weasel. I ended up getting the teacher involved and he got in trouble(he gave WW back ..the douche...probably a re-packer nowadays).....nobody touched my Joes after that.
