When I was little my dad had this little ford ranchero (thats a little pickup to people that don't know) anyways me and my brother were riding in the back I had Zarana in my baseball cap to keep her out of the sun and what does my stupid brother do, not knowing she is in there grabs my hat and pretends to throw my hat and I can see Zarana flying through the air and landing between the road and a big canal. We managed to get my parents to stop and go back but we couldn't find her.

I started this thread to hear your stories of Joes you loved as a kid, lost at some point, then finally got again at another point in your life. Just to start it off, I will give a couple of my own. There are way more than just these two, but this will start it out.
As a kid, I lost Timber from V2 Snake Eyes at Southern Park Mall in Boardman, Ohio probably about a week after I got him. Never forgot that....ever. Finally picked up another at a toy show within the last year. Finally put my V2 SE back to complete. Lost Recondo at Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. I replaced him on a trade a few months later. Lets hear your stories............. In retrospect, i think Jefferson has it out for my joe collection! |

My brother and i were in the back seat of my mom's LeCar (remember those?) fighting over the Sharc on the way from VA to FL and my mom keeps threatening us that if we don't settle down, we'll regret it. Well, we didn't and she just arbitrarily whips her arm around, grabs the sharc, and sails it out the window of the car. My freakin heart broke when i turned around and watched it disintegrate on the highway at 60+ mph.... I feel your pain on that one man. |

Back in the summer of 1988, I had a few Joes and a Devil Fish stolen from my yard by some rat bastard who lived behind our house. I had Wet Suit, Leatherneck, Gung Ho v2, and my Devil Fish in my pool. At some point, I decided to go riding my bike with some kids from the neighborhood, and I left those toys in the pool, thinking no one would bother them. I came back a couple hours later, and they were gone. I was pretty much heartbroken, since Wet Suit was my favorite figure, and Leatherneck was the last toy my grandmother bought me before she died.
Now, I have them all again except for the Devil Fish, which I haven't got around to yet. Thinking about this might make me pick one up. |

When I was a kid I was hit by a car. I couldn't go outside a play for about a week or two. During this time my parents let in many of the kids from the neighborhood to play with me. The problem with this was that I wasn't really friends with most of them. They were just kids from the neighborhood who you would play baseball or football with, but you weren't really friendly with them outside of that I you know what I mean.
In any case these kids ran off with over half of my Joe collection. Years later I was able to replace what was stolen and then some. One day I was helping a friend of mine in college move his stuff out of his room in his mom's apartment. He ended up giving me a shoebox filled with Joes for helping him out. Most of them hardly even looked like they were ever played with. He also had a few vehicles, but we didn't have much room in the car for them so we couldn't take them at that time. We were suppost to go back there one day to finish up, but then sadly his mom had passed away. His cousin ended up cleaning out the apartment before it was sold, and took all of the rest of my friend's stuff and put it in his garage. We never went back and checked on anything so who knows if all of the stuff is even there. This was like 4 or 5 years ago. The 2 things that I'm kicking myself in the ass for not taking the first time around was a complete Night Raven and W.H.A.L.E., but like I said we had no room for them, and they would have been damaged in the move. Oh well.

Oh, and in my defense to all of you who state you never lost anything which I still find hard to believe.... I was very careful with my joes. I would usually just take one or two with me on trips or what not. Actually, those are probably the only two big things I remember loosing. Of course I had the whole hidden at grandmas before a battle, found in the spring when grandma cleans action. It was like getting that figure all over again.

As a kid I never figured out you could replace an o-ring. Many a joe were trashed in vain. I am a douchbag.
