I've always wondered....Do you think Voltar has both of his eyes, or not?
As a kid, i always assumed his optical assembly was a part of his helmet, and maybe it provided some kind of HUD overlay for him and that he had both of his eyes. We moved around a lot, so i played "musical friends" and when the music stopped in Fairfax i had this friend who was convinced that Voltar only had one eye, and that the optic on his helmet acted as his "Patch". Mortal Kombat was big at the time, and Kano had that funky cyber-patch, so i just shrugged and went with his idea because it seemed like it could be plausible. His logic was this: if the optic were a HUD overlay, he should have it over both eyes, or else he would be distracted and it would screw up his depth perception. I countered with instances of targeting reticles for helicopters and whatnot and we stalemated. What do you think? One Eyed Jack or no? Last edited by Angry.Android; 09-04-2010 at 09:44 AM.. |

HUD in my opinion. Built-in targeting and range finder. Infrared/heat sensing capabilities as well.

Yeah, the computer thing. Has both eyes.
I imagine Voltar's personality like that of Brian Blessed's Vultan in 1980's "Flash Gordon." I mean, come on...only someone with a big personality would wear that outfit. "AGPs! Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Watch Fire Birds with Nicholas Cage...it will explain how depth perception with a single Eye HUD/Reticle works in a pretty funny way too...
I AM THE GREATEST...one of the best Nicholas Cage quotes in the 90s lol... You don't have to have both eyes or one eye closed to use a hud. If your vision/brain is capable of melding them togther it will appear to you as one image. Some of the newer night vision goggles do this where it is only one eye that needs to be used to see through the night vision scope. I guess if you want voltar to be One Eyed Willie or a Pirate like guy it can work. To me its just a monocle/single eye scope/HUD. |
