Hello, airsoft guns are way more superior than paintball guns. Like said they are almost exact copies of real firearms, except they fire BBs and not bullets. Paintball guns don't even look like real firearms, so nobody even do reenactment with paintball guns, you'll look really silly. Airsoft, on the other hand, cannot be distinguished even by military veterans until they fire it; the higher end airsoft guns weight like real firearms and even have similar build material and touch. That's why many states require airsoft guns' muzzles to be painted red, to let people know these aren't real weapons. I have a M4A1s and a MP5 and they feel like the real thing. Oh yeah and thanks KALASH69 you nailed it.

So can you shoot each other like you can with paintball guns? Or is it just for shooting targets? I use to play paint ball but haven’t in a long time.

Paintball - funny looking guns that shoot round orbs that splatter water soluble paint on impact.
Airsoft - Replicas of actual guns in production. But these shoot small plastic BBs and are powered by either CO2 gas or electricity. As for reenactments, I couldn't tell you. But I'm part of a group of Airsoft warriors that meet regularly in the Mojave desert and do our best to simulate real battles. Most of us are veterans of either the Navy, Army, or Marines and/or combat trained. We go out for the weekend and spend 48-72 hours in real-time combat. We wear actual uniforms and combat gear as if we were actually in a real battle. Our goal is to simulate real combat scenarios to as close as the real deal as we can make it. Of course, there are rules and everyone who participates has the responsibility to make sure they can handle it.
