So here I sit at my workbench, putting the finishing touches on my latest custom figure...
At the folding table next to me, my 7-year old son is painting furiously at his own interpretation of Firefly. He's got the desire, but not the patience... yet. Firefly has got a lot of red and blue on him. My 6-year old daughter, who possesses a wee bit more concentration, has my custom Iron Grenadier Baroness standng in front of her and is trying to reproduce the paint job I did on that figure. She picked up an RoC Baroness back when they were on clearance for 88 cents and told me that she was planning this. I can't tell you how cool it is that they want to sit in my basement workshop and paint action figures with me. |

DNJ... Your customs are awesome and now that my kids are grown, I can attest to definite amount of quality time you got with them out of this. They're naturally talented for sure. But the real win was being able to share your hobby with them and they enjoy sharing it with you.
I like that idea with the kids custom content. So much that I might even have to consider sponsoring one...

That's great that your kids, even your daughter, shares the love of toys and customizing. I was able to hook my daughter on Star Wars. I like the fact that TCW cartoon has some strong female characters that she can identify with like Ashoka.
I got here the BMF, among other things, that is in the center of her toy room. I always find it fun when one of her friends comes over and the little brother will tag along. They go crazy in her toy room saying "You got Star Wars toys??!!" The look of shock is priceless. Because she's a girl they always assume her toy room will be nothing but girlie toys. |

That's awesome!!!! My son is four and he is the FIRST customizer in my family. I'll go in his room, and heads will be switched around as well as coats. Nothing like your kids have done, but everyone gets their start somewhere!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I knew that there was probably many others that customize with their kids. I think both of my critters would be ecstatic at the idea of a custom contest.

Savor that time with your kids, sharing part of your passion for the hobby. It's priceless.
