Ok....you're a parent who collects toys.
You're with your kid in..say....Target.(or wherever) You're hunting for new toys. You come across a HUGE aisle with all the guys you need. Your KID wants toys too. But you want to teach him the value of the American dollar... and you tell them. one. they get to pick out one toy. Now....they get to look at you picking up like...8 figures. While they get to choose 1. You KNOW what they're gonna be thinkin... what do you say?

Do as I say, not what I do.
Or This is an example of what not to do.

I would either pass the boy off to the wife so he wouldn't see me buying everything,or i'd limit myself and get the same amount as him, so if I could afford 6 I might only get 2 for each of us.

Ohhh I'd explain that someone... Even if it's your dad will always have more toys than you. Good lesson to learn.

Most of our figures are shared. There are very few Joes that I have that my son doesn't have the option to play with if he wants to. I have a Wave 3 25th Firefly that I keep away from the kids, but other then that they are all fair game. They are toys afterall. My only rule is that any of "My" figures that get played with get put back, and that he uses his guns with them, that way I don't lose any of their gear.

Generally, I would say it's best not to toy hunt with your kids in tow.
You will never be able to justify "it's for the collection" or whatnot without causing the kid to grow up to be an over-spender. For kids in aisles, it's almost all impulse buys. They will grow up thinking they should grab everything they don't have. YMMV |

If he can find someone in the store who will buy him more than one toy he can go own with that guy.
