Hey Guys,
I need some suggestions for a couple of code names for some customs I'm working on. The characters are Marines, so I need names that would be suitable for Marines. So far I've got... 1. KA-Bar 2. Devil Dog 3. Jarhead It would be most helpful if they were names that weren't interchangeable with troops from any other branch. Any of you guys who are Marines, I would really appreciate the help.

well, i was working on a team awhile back, and they were going to be named the devil dogs, since that is what the germans called em from the way they came on the beach. and i had a few names for the figures or characters. i might aswell just toss em out, cuase i don't think i will ever work on em. but gyrene, jar head, lobster back, and one more, but that one is so sweet i can't give it away..

Devil Dog (or the variant Devil Pup = Marine recruit) and Jarhead are commonplace.
Leatherneck and Grunt is already taken. General terms: Gyrene Muddies Dobbers P.O.s (Short for president's own, a term signifying Marine's role with the White House) These are all I can come up for general terms. But depending on your Joes specialties, may also reflect what they could be called. Here's a wiki of USMC acronyms and general terms of the Corps: List of United States Marine Corps acronyms and expressions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Here's one I found that would sound cool for a Paratrooper Marine: five-jump chump — a servicemember who has only performed the minimum five paratrooper jumps to receive the Basic Parachute Insignia, as opposed to the Navy and Marine Corps Parachutist Insignia, which requires additional jumps.

Strangely enough, I've picked the brain of a few veteran Marines in this subject. Marines who have a number of comfirmed kills are sometimes referred to as "Squared away". Not the coolest sounding code name I admit. Other common terms are somewhat interchangable. My suggestions would be names of famous Marine Battles, like "Tarawa". Or the marines traditional service rifles, maybe "Carbine". Meh, that's all I've got.

What do the Marines call their swords? Do they have a specific name?
