the worst part for me now is im tryingto trade my other collectable to feed my joe habbit. lol and ive horded enough B.A.T's but i cant stop i cant that cold dead face. those interchangleble arms. and that cool packpack. some day i fear i will snap and try to build one in real life.
p.s. ive found that if you dont have the collectable cases to store them in. a comic book long box is realy good storage device for moc figures. im slowly trying to get cases to protect my soon to be 200+ figure count 25th anv set. al lthe comic book shops in my area sale them for like 5 bucks and ther perfect for stacking them in. there strong enough to stack o and is it wrong of me to use cafe press to make my wife a set of cobra logoed thongs? if so im sooooo wrong. but she liked em

I could say that I was into collecting since birth and such but it wouldn't be true. The truth is that after several years in the military, music is what go me through. I collected music, I played music, and even wrote music. As a computer geek at heart, I found myself sorting, tagging, organizing my music as soon as I got it. Even when it was a piece of vinyl or plastic CD. But now, for reasons that would require another thread altogether, that thrill is gone for me in the music. I still enjoy listening to it but old habits are hard to break. So I needed something to replace the old "crack".
So why G.I. Joe? Well, I loved Joe as a kid. My Joe army was expansive (and expensive). I went everywhere with my Joes. Going to my grandmother's for a summer meant packing everything from my Joes (which went into the G.I. Joe lunchbox) to my Skystriker. As I look back at my military career, I begin to realize that much of my life was based on my experience with my Joes as a kid. So it made sense that I got back into it. For me, this new evolution of collecting is like one-part model making which allows me to stretch my creative muscles (like music did). It's one-part collecting, thus satisfying the need to hunt/gather. And another part flash backing where I get to let me inner child come out again.

"as a kid, i was not as well off as others, so i couldn't afford all the toys i wanted. as an adult, i was suddenly empowered with this facility to go back to my childhood and reclaim those lost moments."
This is true. I collect because life wasent complicated enough without running to 10 different stores 3 times a week because they repainted a Para Viper. This, unfortunately, is also true.
