I am going on a camping trip this weekend and thought it would be fun to bring a couple of GI Joes along. I thought like a few Joes and a range viper so I could do like a predator type picture or video story with them. I asked my soon to be 9 year old son if he thought it would be fun and he said no dad don’t do it you will lose all his guns and stuff. I asked my wife and she said no way this is a GI Joe free camping trip.
Have any of you ever took your GI Joes Camping or on a trip? Should I? |

I always take a Joe with me (usually Cobra Commander) on every trip I've ever taken; camping, even Hawaii and Austrailia. Altho now I'm too paranoid to try and get their little guns through airport security... so now he goes un-armed.

When i was a kid, my mom would ship me off to summer camp each year. I would pack this 'nam era buttpack my uncle gave me with a few select joes and cobras, and i would have battles near the lake, or during free time on the trails and whatnot. it was pretty fun and i never lost any of the figures, but i did lose weapons pretty consistently.

I brought some Joes with me when I went to Boy Scout camp with my son. I was careful, and didn't lose any of their gear. As a side note, I thought at the time that it'd be cool if the Joes ran their own camp for kids. For example, Cutter would teach boating skills, Spirit could teach field craft, Low Light could teach shooting, and Lifeline would teach first aid.

I'm going to start doing that, and take pictures of a GI Joe at whatever destination I'm at.
