That's a pretty general statement about Navy.... And if us Navy guys have a "general bad attitude" than your Jarhead attitude reveals the general grunts attitude. You're cool with us squids when we're taking you someplace or patching you up.
I'm just gonna let it go, though. Because you don't know this Joe. How's the weather in 29 Stumps btw. Not a place I wanna go back to anytime soon. But it was still better than Baghdad in summertime.

If you want to post an informative thread about rank structure and general description. Then I suggest sticking with information you're 100% sure of...
With all due respect... If you're going to disseminate opinions as facts, please modify your post reflecting your personal opinions towards that of the Corps and stick with that. Leave out other information that you have very little knowledge about. I have no ill feelings towards any branch of service. We all have our jobs to do and each and every one is important to the security of our nation and the mission as a whole. I'm sorry that you feel that the Air Force and Navy are some kind of slackers. But if you look at it from a different perspective, it can be said the same about your G.I. Grunt. Ask any deckhand on your standard amphib ship, he's disgruntle because he has to clean your cigarette butts or has to have his wife send Toilet Paper in a care package because the day before you (we) launch all ship supply is in some Grunt's bedroll. Ask that deck hand why he's upset that there's 20 Marines in the chow line who have all day to eat while he's only got long enough for his watch relief. Again, I understand both perspectives and I'm not criticizing. But if you're going to express these opinions, don't relate them to rank. Because in the end, I'm still an E6 and deserve the same respect as your SSGT.

As far as the army rank is concerned there is no set rank that you have to be upon entering the army. I was e-1 my college graduate pg (platoon guide) in basic was e-4. Also you are missing master sergeant and command sergeant major, e-8 and e-9 have personnel sides as well as administrative.
