Hey I know not all the weapons from Joe are actual weapons, but I gotta ask...does anyone know if...
a) Spearhead's rifle is real? b) Why does it have two differant clips? |

as a gun guy, I'm going to go ahead and tell you "no."
a weapon fed by two different magazines wouldn't work too well, particularly if (as it appears to be in this case) the magazines carried different sized rounds. There are at least two reasons for this. The first is that if the rounds are of different calibers and there is only one barrel, one type of round will have a diameter too small to take advantage of the barrel and will be extremely inaccurate when fired - this, of course, assumes that the cartridge is capable of being seated on the bolt face in the first place. The second reason this dual-mag system wouldn't work is that you would need some way to change the recoil distance of the bolt in order to reach the magazine further from the barrel, while also preventing it from stripping rounds from the closer magazine. Theoretically you could empty the close magazine first, but then what about the magazine follower? Does it simply not have one? That could be the case, but you'd still be looking at the issue of getting the bolt to travel further backwards to chamber rounds from the rearmost magazine. .... Then again, they could be magazines of a slightly different shape that carry the same ammo (think the M16 20rd mags, which are straight, and the 30rd STANAG 'banana' magazine), and one of the two magazine positions is simply there to store a mag to make reloading quicker. Anyway, the gun doesn't look like any real gun, which I suppose is what you were asking. |
