If it's like the way I played w/ them in the '80s, Snow Job, Frosbite, and Ice Berg would be riding the Snow Cat and Polar Bear, since budget concerns meant the Snow Cat went everywhere in the world there's trouble.

I know you probably didn't mean it this way, but am I the only one who sometimes thinks of environmental outfits as different characters? I don't mean to, but I think subconsiously if they're in a vastly different or environmentally specific outfit, I don't always immediately think of the full fleshed out actual character right away.

Real servicemen would carry them in their pockets hoping that the worst way that they would be lost is deflecting a bullet away from a vital organ or vessel rather then being lost in the sand.
Perhaps they could be used as goodwill by giving them as toys to kids in the area? Nice I like that. We should start two separate drives. One would be to clear the shelves of old Hasbro product and send them to the kids in Afghanistan and Iraq. Do war toys promote violence? Well I doubt the Afghani kids need any help, but boys like war toys plain and simple. Then Channing would be world famous I guess, but maybe then Target will stop cancelling upcoming waves. The Second drive would be a sort of Adopt-a-Marine/Serviceman/Sailor/Airman. We could all pick a serviceman, and send him the Joe of his choice that he could carry in his pocket as a sort of goodluck charm. Of course Hasbro would have to make more figures, and we may actually get a Lowlight figure out of the deal.

Realistically I think with the different levels of cross services special ops they would have to fall under JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) and do whatever they're told.
Joint Special Operations Command - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'd like to think though if they wer given some level of autonomy as their own unit, they would be deployed deep in enemy territory. A firebase would be set up where they would drop in a couple crates which they could build a modular GIJOE HQ like issue #24 They would go antagonize the enemy or tempt them to attack. That's Afghanistan. Iraq they would roll in with the General, Rolling THunder, Thunderclap, and the MCC and get blown up by an IED, then have to go on foot. Now I think about it, send Tripwire and Tunnel-Rat, and Lightfoot, and any other EOD guys.

I like your idea of the modular base, Loose. I've been thinking about that too. As fo who I'd deploy where, the following would go to Afghanistan: Falcon, Stalker, Snake Eyes, Alpine, Snow Job, Iceberg, Outback, Tunnel Rat, Lifeline, Barrel Roll, Breaker, Bombstrike, Zap, Short Fuse, and Crank Case. Iraq gets Dusty, Flint, Lady Jaye, Doc, Bazooka, Hawk, Heavy Metal, Steeler, Clutch, Shockwave, Scarlett, Tripwire. Plus, I'd send any tanks and APCs to Iraq, whereas I'd send mostly AWE Strikers to Afghanistan. Aircraft would vary, I'd probably send a couple Skyhawks to Afghanistan, and the Tommahawk with Lift Ticket and the NAC with Wild Bill.
