Inspired by a few (insert name here) Joverse Threads...I give you...Ooalb's Joeverse.
The days prior to November 1963… Joe Colton is pulled from mission and brought to President Kennedy to start the G.I. Joe program. (As told in Marvel comics issue #152) November 1963 President Kennedy is assassinated. (Historical event.) January 1964 Joe Colton begins the G.I. Joe Program the projects official title is Unit Alpha: Codename G.I. Joe (As theorized by the events of Marvel Comics #152 and the debut of the 12” version of G.I. Joe) 1964 – 1970 The one man trouble shooter operated alone until 1967. When he was often joined by Jane Ann Martelle (Codename: G.I Jane) a military nurse who would support Colton on missions. This teaming would continue until 1970. (Info based on the releases of the original G.I. Joe and G.I. Jane the story is loosely thrown together based on the production of G.I. Joe from 1964 – 1970.) 1970 – 1976 Adventure Team G.I. Joe would reorganize in 1970 with the departure of Joseph Colton and Jane Martelle while expanding its roster its more military roots were suppressed and it was more of an Adventure unit than traditional military. The reorganization is officially called Unit Beta: Codename G.I. Joe. It consists of three men known only as… -Air Adventurer -Land Adventurer -Team Commander (This is all based off of the 2010 Collectors Club sets. None of the three characters have file names but all three come from different cities. None of those cities match Joe Colton’s RI birthplace from his two ARAH file cards so I assume they are three all new characters.) 1976 The Adventure Team would again reorganize but with no official name change (occasionally referred to as Super Joe Team), to combat a threat uncovered known as the Invaders. The team would then spend the next two years fighting off the Alien threat, and retire from active status in 1978. (Sorry Super Joe Fans as much as I want to embrace all things Joe this is the most I’m willing to retcon Super Joe into my Joeverse.) 1980 Growing concerns that a new threat a terrorist group calling itself Cobra prompts the military to try its third incarnation of G.I. Joe officially named Unit Charlie: Codename G.I. Joe. It does not go well. The team never returns from its first mission and is not heard from again until 1997, when it is learned they were betrayed by one of their own to Cobra and have been its prisoners for the last 17 years. (All based an idea from the Stars and Stripes set (and a few other figures from those TRU releases). So many of those figures look NOTHING like the original releases so I made up new characters and a back story why they were missing.) 1982 Due to the disappearance of Unit Charlie, General Flagg convinces the military that Cobra is an even larger threat than imagined, and gets authorization for a fourth version Unit Delta: Codename G.I. Joe. (Added to show horn in my Charlie Unit.) 1982 – 1994 Pretty much runs the same as the Marvel comics run. The main exceptions are as follows… -Any special units like Tiger Force, Night Force, Eco Warriors etc. have been given new persona’s including Codenames. -No one major died…teams like Battle Force 2000 and other dead characters like Doc were all hurt badly and recovered…they might not see as much action since injury but they never died. No one official dies in my Joeverse…I know it’s not very realistic but it saves me the problems of characters I start to like again having some odd reason for being alive afterwards. All of the death is left to grunts like Vipers or Green Shirts, or such. -Any number of stories also takes place with characters not featured as prominently in the Marvel runs during in and around the Marvel runs. (I hate the silly ways characters are killed and come back so if I have to make like Firefly never died, well then I can make like other characters never died either.) 1994 – 2001 While officially disbanded a number of stories actually do happen during this time off. (It’s a great place for fanfic, and the bulk of my Steel Brigade: Underground tales take place here as do some of the Raina DeCobray stories.) 1994 – 1995 - Sgt. Savage In the closing days of the Joe team Sgt. Savage is found and revived along with his misfits The Screaming Eagles they take on the forces of General Blitz who is a little known member of Cobra. Their engagements are short lived with Savage on the winning end of most engagements however General Blitz and his core group of villains are never captured. They are still at large. (Generally based on the pilot episode for the cartoon, and shoe horned into the comic universe I’m attempting to tie up some loop holes in the various incarnations of G.I. Joe.) 1995 - Extreme An experimental attempt at a smaller but well armed Joe Team is made dubbed G.I Joe: Extreme. They mostly tackle a terrorist group called SKAR again believed to be an affiliate of Cobra. Much like General Blitz SKAR’s forces take several losses to the Extreme team but are never captured. They remain at large. The Extreme team also briefly tangled with an unknown female calling herself Red Scream…she too was also never captured and remains at large. The team is disbanded in 1995 due to budget restraints and the lack of activity from any major terrorist organizations. (Generally based off of the cartoon and toy line and slightly the comic book the main difference is Extreme I believe took place in the future to keep the characters in this time span sews up one of those multiverse gaps and brings an offshoot chapter of Joe back into the core mythos.) 2001 – 2005 DDP Comic run. Again my universe pretty much follows this as well, but of course Billy and Lady Jaye never die. (Love it or hate it the DDP run does continue the Marvel run so I’m leaving it. Besides it wasn’t all bad some great new characters showed up and I just won’t erase the entire series.) Post DDP From there on out stories continue, mostly revolving around lesser used characters and a few new ones such as Raina DeCobray who is believed to be the daughter of the Baroness and Cobra Commander from the earliest days of their involvement with Cobra, and the Steel Brigade: Underground cast. Although a few of my new Special Teams characters also have stories here as well. Other areas… -Comic Pack comic and Conventions sets and comics. Luckily most of the NEW comic pack stories Larry did fit into Marvel/ DDPARAH continuity pretty much tucked in some corner with a few exceptions. Similarly the con sets and comics are pretty much ambiguous enough that with a little imagination they fit anywhere you want by just saying, “Oh this must have taken place while this was going on.” It’s not too hard really. -Cobra-La / Venom line / Manimals / Lunitarixx Empire / Mega Monsters / Dino Hunters This one is a tough one…by a lot of standards Cobra-La is fairly well hated by fans and while I can find the room for them in my Joeverse I tend to not make them too obvious. In my Joeverse they are part of a group calling itself Evilution basically their all genetic experiments made by Cobra-La which for the most part had secretly come to Cobra Commander looking for food and support for their dying civilization. This is where Cobra gets all its aberrations like Manimals from. Recently they have all galvanized as the faction called Evilution under Prince Venomous Maximus who has discovered that his people are actually the remains of the space fairing race known as the Lunitarixx Empire. -RoC Essentially RoC story exists completely outside of my ARAHverse, their all new characters in my universe. Which is great because its all new recruits! -Factions and Subgroups Faction: G.I. Joe • Tiger Force • Night Force • Eco Warriors • Sky Patrol • Desert Patrol • Battle Force 2000 • Anti-Venom Task Force • Heavy Assault Squad • Star Brigade • Mega Marines • Steel Brigade • Ninja Force (Which includes Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter) Faction: Action Force [The International Version of the Joe Team with members in many countries.] • Tiger Force • Eco Warriors • Sky Patrol Faction: Oktober Guard Faction: Red Shadows Faction: Cobra • Python Patrol • Eco Warriors • Ninja Force (Which includes Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter) • Urban Strike Team • Crimson Guard • Nightstalkers • Skull Squad • Star Brigade Faction: Dreadnoks • Dreadheads Faction: Iron Grenadiers Faction: The Coil Faction: The IRON Army Faction: SKAR I'm nearly certain I left out some factions somewhere in that list. If I've left any questions please feel free to ask. |

You like me like to include everyone and no one ever dies. Good timeline. Any good codenames to steal? What about Sigma 6 characters?

Nice and organized. Yeah, I use the RoC figures as new guys or they allow me to use the original as someone new (I use RoC Roadblock as my default Roadblock which allows me to use the urban assault Roadblock as Double Blast and the vintage Roadblock as Freight).
How do you handle a guy like Duke who appears in the regular unit and subgroup or Flint, who's in Night Force and Tiger Force and regular unit?

Believe it or not in most of the subgroups I gave each reissued character a completely new name and file. Here's some Tiger Force I did... Believe it or not I have these for most reissued repainted figures be it Tiger Force, Star Brigade, Dino Hunters, DEF, etc. I even went to Staples and printed them out on card stock. |

Nice. Thats what I end up doing as well. Each character has a definitive look for them, and any others that are far enough (color) become new characters.
Makes alot of sense and allows for alot of holes to be filled. Did alot of work on the filecards. Very nice. Puts me to shame, lol.

Well the long and short of S6 for me is its just an offshoot of the 3.75" characters with a few new characters, so the few new characters that came out of that just end up being included with post DDP characters. I MIGHT consider them a special unit like Tiger Force seeing as how they have Sigma suits. I'll have to upload all the renames I've done...there are so many. |
