Heck... if we wanna include DiC being a reporter who has a little guts gets you on the team too... and when it turns out you were working for Cobra because they duped you into beleiving an incredibly obvious lie? You know what that's okay... you know better now.

If I remember correctly, Bazooka was pretty competent. Tripwire and Wild Card on the other hand, not so much.

They asked Quick Kicks girl to join the team after she went after Cobra by herself...didn't have any military experience or do a background on her

And they did show how a few cartoon joes made the team, sometimes all it takes is picking up a couple of lost Joes in the desert or fighting with storm shadow while half naked in the arctic (though that does take guts)... Security clearance... pfft what's that? Oh, and security clearances? Think of how many Joes have phobias (Barbeque) or possible mental illnesses (Deep Six) and wonder how those guys got through basic, let alone made it that far.

Comic book had a few moments like that also. Gung Ho's first appearance had him shirtless in Alaska and Torpedo running around the Treasury Bldg in a wetsuit and doing Cobras with a speargun. (I know nobody really grasped the spectrum of SEALs during the mid80's, but c'mon...)

Hey, look at Forest Gump. Guy was as slow as mollasses uphill, but could fieldstrip a rifle in ten seconds and saved (almost) all his buddies.
For all we know, Bazooka's probably some kind of anti-armor savant. His file card says he drove a tank so he must know their weaknesses pretty well. Anyway I'd agree with something along the lines of anti-tank/armor savant. I think of him as an overall expert in that field & military stuff in general, and is so good about it & knows so much that he seems like an idiot when it comes to anything else. Kind of like how some lawyers are when it comes to law. |

Savant this, expert that.... I don't think it is that complicated. hes just a guy in the unit that is all. Hes buds with Alpine and Quick Kick, it was just a play so kids would know what team work looks like and that everyon ehas a part on the team regardless of how they act. The slow gullable big guy with the wise cracking sly moutain climber...like the book of mice and men, or that other cartoon with the 2 dogs big dumb dog with his smart little dog. Hes not out making weather domniators or splicing DNA...he shoots a bazooka/LAW at a taget and blows it up or beats the crap outta of it with his bare hands...not like the front of a HISS is not liek shooting a broad side of a barn...a mouse could do that....
