Hi Guys,
I know that we have made this connection in the past, but here is a chilling picture that brings the inspiration even closer than before. Here is the link: Hydra - Marvel Universe: The definitive online source for Marvel super hero bios. I suck at posting images.. I clearly see : - Dr. Mindbender's inpiration with the monacle. - A woman in tight black suit with black hair, like the baroness..who was named Madame Hydra and was later known as the "Viper" - A ninja, you know cobra had a Ninja...... Just interesting to me. Anyone have any other parallels between Hydra and Cobra? |

I'm going to disagree with you on this one. First your using a modern picture every team gets a ninja if you stay around long enough. Oh Look Ronin was a ninja for the Avengers and She doesn't talk. Oh look not Ronin is Hawkeye. The evil Monacle dude would be Cobra Commander but he is dead now. Madame Hydra is still around or dead I think they want Jessica Drew to lead them. I think the Organization of Kobra by DC is much closer. Especially in Checkmate new series but that's because they stole from Gi Joe.

If I remember correctly- Larry Hama's original pitch for what became GI Joe was a Special Forces Unit led by Nick Fury's son. I think it would only make sense that the son of the director of SHIELD would fight their Cobra equivalent- Hydra.

It was called Fury Force and most of the characters became the basis for joe characters.

I'm speaking of Cobra. Think of it this way. Did Hydra have a Ninja before Gi Joe came out? No they did not. Madame Hydra was related to the main badguy. Now Madame Hydra maybe the representation of Baroness but Cobra Commander is not based on the Baron. Battle Armor, Weapons, Etc. He is more of the Kobra badguy of DC. I think Cobra is just a mesh of both Kobra and Hydra. I also think that After GI Joe was created that both of these people where influenced by GIJoe Kobra being the cooler one. If anyone read the new checkmate series.

Let's clear up the Fury Force/GI Joe chronology a bit. Some key points:

Yeah Zulu has it about right. Still I like to see the similarities. I try to incorporate the Marvel Universe figures with my Joes. I wish there were more Hydra Figures than haveing to buy that overpriced 3-pack from TRU.
Still I don't know enough of the whole story to get it to all work together. But I see Red Skull as the leader of Hydra in a way. but for what ever reason it didn't work out and the Baron goes to Japan and starts Hydra with the help of "The Hand" Well what if "The Hand" were really a familiar ninja clan known to us as the Red Ninja Clan AKA Arishikage clan? And what if that Baron were none other than Baron IronBlood from the Red Shadows? Here is where I run into a snag. They don't look alike. But now I have a way to connect Dr. Doom, who I will make a cousin to Destro. I assume Latveria is nestled somewhere between, Trans-Carpathia(Of which Destro is Lord) and Darklonia. I need to figure a way to add Captain Savage and his leatherneck Raiders, but they are all too old I suppose. Still I can add my Nick Fury figure to my Joeverse. As he is age-defying since he has some Capt America Juice in his blood. Speaking of which the Captain and anyone else from SHEILD I want to include will work with the Joes, Steel Brigade Units. Not sure if I'll have to joes under SHEILD or what. |
